View Full Version : LE14H-1, 128H-1 or 2213H?

Hello everybody.

I'm new to this forum, but spent some time lurking before registering.

First of all I would like to thank the contributing members for all the useful informating you guys posted over the years.

I'm planning to rebuild a jbl speaker from scratch. I would like to build a new, sturdier cabinet and a new XO. At this moment I only have a NOS pair of 104H mids and the 044Ti tweeters, but no woofers. With these I could go for the 240Ti by adding a LE14H-1 or the 120Ti by using a 128H-1.

The problem is, none of these woofers is easily available here in Europe. A 2213H on the other hand seems to be growing on trees.

I could build a 4312 with better midrange and tweeters if I use the 2213H. An adaptation of the XO would be necessary ofcourse, but this is not a problem since I'm building them myself.

Has any of you ever implanted a 2213H in a 120Ti? (with or without adapting the XO) Wat were the results?

Should I be patient and wait for a pair of LE14H-1 or 128H-1 to turn up? In this case, wat speaker would you prefer, the 240Ti or 120Ti, and why? Or could I use a modern replacement from JBL?

I know these are a lot of questions, but I'm in the middle of this "making-my-mind-up-process"

See if 2214H woofers are available. They were used in the L100T, L100T3, XPL200A, 4425, etc

Meanwhile I found a pair of 128H-1. Problem solved, case closed.

At this moment I'm thinking of rebuilding the 120Ti.

I would like to build a new cabinet out of 22mm mdf with a 40 mm front baffle. I"m not going to change the optic of the 120 so I''ll stick to the outside dimensions of the original loudspeaker. The only thing that is going to gange is the depth of the cabinet. Since the materials I'm going to use (+ added bracing) are somewhat thicker than the original woodwork, the cabinet will have to be a little bit deeper in order to contain the same amount of air as the original.

I'm also building a charge coupled xo.

All this will get posted in a new thread on the DIY forum.
