Ok, I formed an audio club here in Las Vegas. We have about 10 members now. I'm the only member with JBLs at the moment. If anyone reads this is from the Vegas (or anywhere near) area, please consider joining and show off your JBLs. Thanks for reading this. And thanks to the admins for letting me plug the club here. :D

I know Dave, he comes to see me every year at CES, and usually brings something choice to play something I look forward too.

Dave good luck with your new club, something LV has needed for years. I tried starting one when I lived out on the north end to no avail.

Cyclotronguy

PS
If you come to Room 34-209, in the Venetian Towers, we'll be playing LP's. You're welcome to bring some too!

Thanks! That's cool too! You know, it is a crazy world, and some people are skeptical about clubs nowadays. But, it takes time, patience, and a lot of reassuring that this isn't some sort of scam or a front for thieves.

I hope the membership grows a bit, but not too much. Meaning in the hundreds to thousands. However, all audiophiles near and far are welcome to our meetings.

Basically I like the camaraderie, and checking out systems is a good thing. Regardless of the internet and technology, man is a social animal who needs personal contact with others.

That's why I formed the club. To learn and have fun, as well as socialize with like-minded people. Audio is too much a solitary hobby, and I'm doing my part to try and change that. We'll see what happens.

Hello all,

I'm seriously considering relocating to Las Vegas... thanks in part to inspiration from my good friend and fellow LHS member 1audiohack!
It will certainly be nice to make friends with some folks who enjoy good music and high performance audio -or Hi-perf anything, for that matter!

I also have childhood friends and a relative or two that moved out there ~40 years ago that have made learning about the area easy. Personally, I have no real encumbrances and I'm up for an adventure anyway, so I figure "Why not?"
I'm actually rather excited at the prospects...:bouncy:

I've been to Vegas three times in the last 4 years and -NO I don't gamble- so that's not a temptation... not even the slightest!
However, I do have this rather expensive affliction involving Pro Audio and JBL...:nutz:

I came out to Vegas last August for a vacation/swap meet/Audio-Fest and ended up staying out there for 5 weeks! By the time I had to go back home, I'd been meeting with folks in the Pro Audio Industry, Real Estate agents, and exploring business and employment opportunities.
Part of my plan involves a Workshop/Man-Cave/Audio Repair/Test Facility...:dj-party:
An ideal location for an Audio Club event? I would say so!

I'll be out there again in a couple of weeks to ferret out the details. If all goes well, I'll be out there around the first of the year.

My sidekick is already excited about making the trip again... Dogs LOVE trucks!

Interestingly enough, more members preferred the oldie but goodie Klipsches (with Velodyne subwoofer) to the new flashy JBLs. Of course it was apples to oranges, but the fact remained, the modified Klipsches were the clear winner here.

No doubt. What are those JBLs? Studio 590s (about $600 each, street price)? Did they have the "advantage" of the Velodyne, too?

Yep, Studio 590s! I believe they're a bit more than that (I could be wrong.) Yes they did, but for some odd reason, the mids and highs were subdued compared with the ol' Klipsches. The 590s had a "thicker" sound.

Though I've talked a bit about them with Dave in another string here on LH, maybe I'll put up a new one on these. Perhaps a copy/pasta and some edits from another forum that I've written about them.

Hadn't done so yet since I didn't think the Everest, M2, K2, 43xx, etc. JBL cognoscenti would be much interested in slumming with my boxen of Chinese plastic, but hey, might be good to see what The Great Unwashed is up to, hmm? Pitchforks & torches and all that...

I suppose you can, but I would start your own thread just for the simple fact that more will see it and easier to find.

Sure, why not? I find it interesting to see what's going down in the lower lines. And actually, JBL considers the 500 series as part of Synthesis.

Don't forget the 4350's still have the 2440-2311-2308 (tel:2440-2311-2308) driver horn lense assemblies in them. That is definitely a weakness. Widget's Everests sound far better over all.

It was a major awakening to replace the 15's and 12's with the Al's and Fe's and being four way active allows for serious tailoring of the sound, especially the bottom. I have stated before that the Auto Warmth feature in the DBX 4800 is itself worth the price of admission. It's all a system. And I love it!

The meeting is going to be fun! The 4350's are not going to be there though.

Greetings, Barry, Dave, and All,

So, from the last comment, are you going to allow non-members to come and visit for a bit, or are you just trying to keep this shindig only for your dues paid membership? Sweet Bride just got back from three weeks of work in Australia, and I'm not sure she will be over the 19 hour time difference by Saturday. But, if she's up to it, and if your event is actually open for LH member/visitors, we might consider making the drive, grabbing a hotel room for the night, and heading home the next day. As I say, we won't know for a few more days. But, please clarify if regular LH members are welcome to visit, or not. Sounded, from the last comments, that it was going to end up being more private, and for your local members, only. Thanks, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

Hi Doc;

There has been a little behind the scenes action over dues that bled over here. The club voted on the dues subject and voted unanimously in favor of. There has been a little balking in the background however but little things like that never spoil our fun!

Dave and I have spoken about this at length and I am certain I wont be putting words in his mouth when I say come one and all. No dues are asked for or expected from visitors to the club. The first drugs are always free haha.

This is shaping up to be a lot of fun from the people coming point of veiw. I hope not to dissapoint as host. This is going to be a little industrial.

To be sure, we would love to have you come.

All thr best,
Barry.

Greetings, Barry, and All,

Many thanks for the clarification! I picked up my wife yesterday, after her three weeks of working down in Australia, and didn't think she'd be up for a trip to LV, after the 19 hour time difference. However, this morning, after she got to sleep in a bit, I mentioned a possible trip, and she was all for it!! So, we'll be coming over for a visit, and some JBL fun!! I talked to Grumpy about riding over with us, but unfortunately, if he can make it, and I VERY much hope that he can, our schedules for coming and going are too different to be able to ride together.

I'll check the Las Vegas forum, and see about phone numbers, and addresses, and all that info, and may be sending you a PT about that, Barry, if I can't find what I need. Thanks, again, for the updated info, and we will look forward to seeing you on Saturday!! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,

The overwhelming majority of members have paid the membership dues or will pay at the meeting. There are a few members that look like they're not willing. That's pretty good odds in favor of. We're transitioning from an informal to a formal club and in the process, you're gonna face a bit of resistance. That is what I've learned from the whole thing. And correct, no dues will be asked for from visitors for 1 meeting only. Subsequent meetings require club membership. If anyone here wishes to join, it's $30 annually via PayPal or cash at the meetings. But if paying cash, just give me your word that you will pay. Also, a brief questionaire must be filled out via email. Anyway, see you there Doc! Thanks!

Good Evening, Barry, Dave, and All,

Well, the evening is drawing to a close, and before the Sand Man beats Sweet Bride and I into oblivion, I wanted to thank Barry, Dave, and all the guys from the Las Vegas Audio Club, plus DaveW, from my home State of Texas, for an outstanding time today!! Thank you, Gentlemen, for allowing Cynthia and I to come up and pay you a visit, and to join in all the fun that was had today!! An outstanding experience, some out of this world JBL PA goodies, and some good, and sharing JBL Lovers, were the features of today's meeting, and both of us had a wonderful time. Thanks to Barry for hosting the event, and for the great sandwiches and goodies that you provided for us all!! And thanks, too, for all the hard work you put in to setup and feature the wonderful JBL system we enjoyed today!! Your place is sort of like a JBL Dream Shop, and with lots of fun stuff to enjoy!! But, I have to say, Barry, that system we all enjoyed today, is one of the cleanest, natural, and dynamic systems I've heard in many, many years!!

It was great meeting all the guys from the LVAC, and also JeffW,! Jeff and I, both being from Texas, had some enjoyable conversations, and both had similar Nikon cameras at the event. Jeff, thanks for allowing me to try out your sharp 105mm lens on my own Nikon camera. That told me everything I needed to know about that well regarded lens, and I will begin saving my pennies to purchase one as soon as I can make it happen!! Like the JBL system we all loved enjoying, that Nikon lens is crisp, well-defined, and very natural in it's ability to do what it does best, and in this case that is to take amazing photographs!!

Lots of good photos were taken, as not only Jeff and I, but also Les, had cameras, and snapped a goodly amount of photos to share here later. So, thanks, again, to one and all, for a fine time, and please know that Cynthia and I very much appreciated your hospitality, and friendship!! It was most definitely worth the drive to come and visit with you Gentlemen!! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc and Sweet Bride (Mark and Cynthia)

I don't think anybody was really prepared for what that system would do when Barry poured the coal it, not your ordinary LAS Vegas Audio Club meet I bet.

Thanks to the club for having me, Mark and Cynthia as guests, great bunch of folks. Spent all day today listening to Barry's home systems and LVAC member Les' system. Really made the trip even better.

Glad you liked the lens, Doc. I'll see if any shots I took are post-worthy when I get back home.

Wouldn't you know it (I didn't), but they had a marathon in Vegas this evening. Closed all the main roads crossing the strip, and of course I was on the opposite side from the hotel. Holy gridlock.

Good Morning, Jeff,

It was great meeting you, and the other guys, at this club meeting, and I wish we could have joined up in hearing Barry and Les' systems, after the meeting. Time did not permit, unfortunately. Sorry you got stuck on the wrong side of the Strip, last night, darn it! Have safe trip home, and I'll talk to you later, about your lens, and other stuff.

DaveW, I loaded my photos from the LVAC meeting onto my computer, and have a total of 142 photographs to go through. How many would you like me to send you, and approximately what file size for each? If you would prefer, I when I pick through them and end up with the best ones, I can burn them onto a disk and send it to you. Or, I can email them, if that works best for you. Just me know, and I'll send the photos soon.

Thanks, again, to Barry, Dave72, and all the gang in Las Vegas, for your friendly welcome for Jeff, Cynthia, and myself!! We all had a great time, and before closing, I have to share one funny and enjoyable moment that happened whilst we were all enjoying Barry's system. As the volume increased, it seems like most everyone moved back just a bit, or even more, and found their own personal comfort zone for db's. Some of us ended up across the street, and in the round about in the parking lot, and the system sounded flat-out amazingly clear, crisp, clean, and dynamic back there!! Cynthia and I were sort of bouncing around to the excellent music, and all of a sudden, Cynthia looked at me with a huge smile on her face, and said, "I WANT IT!!" :bouncy: :applaud: Suffice it to say, my Sweet Bride, Cynthia, was exceedingly happy with Barry's outstanding system, and highly appreciative of all the work he put into tuning the entire system so carefully and perfectly, as were the rest of us!!! WELL done, Barry!!!!!! Thanks, again, for your hospitality, and warm welcome, and thank you for the outstanding food, too!! You guys have a great club, and your members are friendly, interesting, and very knowledgeable!!

Jeff, I look forward to sharing more events like this with you in the future, if that works out. It was great meeting you, and as mentioned earlier, we'll keep in touch!! Safe trip home! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc and Sweet Bride (Mark and Cynthia)

The bass bins were RCA Ubangi's with 2226s in them. Barry had two Ubangis per side, but only one per side were hooked up. The mids were horn loaded Community units with JBL 2020s in them. The highs were also Community horns with 2441 (maybe 2440?) drivers. Powered with a rack of Crown amps, DBX crossover. You don't see stacked Ubangi's every day, the bass was substantial and surprisingly low, you would be hard pressed to get that much bass at those SPLs from direct radiator 15s. Everybody listened at normal levels for quite a while, I don't think anybody was prepared for what came next with the high volume demo - The Race by Hello that Barry mentioned in another thread. Literally jaw dropping - jaws were dropping.

Here's a pic of Les (white shirt/suspenders), Roy, and Dave. Les is a really interesting and enthusiastic fellow. We ended up at his place later Sunday, he has a background in audio and knows some heavy hitters in the business. And a pic of Doc and Cynthia for good measure! Dave stuck it out to the very end, last to leave. I think everybody had a great time. Being a casual observer, I didn't know if the club members would scoff, recoil in terror, flee like rats, just didn't know how the system would be accepted. But pretty much everybody stuck around, brought up some material, one guy even went home to get a different DAC. I had a blast!

Good Morning, All,

I'm not sure how many photos I can post on the forum, at one time. But, I'll get started, and if needed, will add more in another post.

Here are Jeff and Les, before we got started.

63622

Here's Sweet Bride (Cynthia), already enjoying the background music!

63623

A gathering of Crown amps, to power the JBL's.

63624

Here's Dave72, the President of the Las Vegas Audio Club, giving the "thumbs up" to the enjoyable day we were all sharing.

63625

Barry was busy, getting everything hooked up the way he wanted it to be.

63626

More to come. Stay tuned....

More from the LVAC meeting:

Jeff came all the way from Texas to join in the JBL fun. Despite his T-shirt advertising, Jeff was a great guy, and very friendly!

63627

Here's a JBL project that Barry undertook, when he had to make a mount for a specific horn/driver combination, which you'll see in the next photos. VERY interesting stuff, and very well done.

63628

More from LVAC meeting: Barry and, I believe, Robert, still sorting out the setup. Both Gentlemen are knowledgeable and very interesting men.

63632

More "cooks", stirring the JBL soup!

63633

Les is admiring the mighty JBL Ubangi cabinet/horn combination, and he, as well as all the rest of us, were very impressed with the quality and dynamics of this system!! Well done, Barry!!

63634

Let's see what's inside this huge JBL system.

63635

Four of those huge 2226 woofers should do the trick, and the most certainly did!

And, a proper 12" mid, the model of which has slipped my feeble mind, and a wonderful 2441 HF driver, both on Community horns, rounded out the system!!

63636

More to come.... Doc

A few last photos of the LVAC meeting:

The music is happening, and everyone found their place of contentment for the initial listening sessions.

63637

63638

Finally settling down to some serious listening, not a single person had anything but praise for the system, and the chosen music that helped to showcase what these JBL's can do!

63639

And, once those Crown amps were cranked up, just to see what the JBL's could do, the massive wall of sound waves was simply astounding, and still clean and clear!! Some of us moved back a bit, and ended up being across the street in a little round-about, which offered a wide listening area. If you look, you can see that my lovely wife, Cynthia, is dancing, and loving this massive JBL system!! Ahhhh, life is grand,

63640

A final huge "Thank you!", to Barry, Dave, and all the members of the Las Vegas Audio Club, for welcoming Cynthia, Jeff, and me to their meeting at Barry's place!! And a big "Thank you!" to Jeff, who kindly allowed me to play around with a Nikon lens I've long admired!! Jeff, that lens is now on my "gotta have it" list, thanks for you!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the photos that I, and Jeff, have posted here. The day was a fine one, with perfect weather, perfect JBL's, and perfect companionship!! Take care, and God Bless!

Good Evening, Grumpy,

Dave you were most definitely missed, and I passed along your regrets at not having been able to attend this fun meeting. I was thinking of you when watching the guys setting up the system, and knew that, had you been there, you would have gotten a kick out of participating in that task! You were there in spirit, my friend, if not in form. I also told Barry about the "game of chance" that you and I had up our sleeves, and he got a kick out of that! In any case, Cynthia and I were sorry to get your email that you would not be able to attend. We'll plan a BBQ dinner soon, and do our little "game of chance" at that time. So, if you could not come to Vegas, Vegas (or at least a bit of gambling!) will come to you!! ;) :D Take care, and God Bless!

Hi All;

I am glad to hear that people actually had a good time here. I had a ball. When I say I'm a large format guy, well now ya know.

One of the things that delights me the most is other people getting their hands on and in stuff. Like Robert who ran home to grab a dac to horse around with. Hell yeah let's plug it in! You drive. Les took no time at all when at the wheel a week ago of letting it rip. He's not at all afraid to get loud fast.

I have been very fortunate to amass this pile of stuff and to have the space to air it out. To be able to share that with folks that haven't experienced and or driven something this powerful is super fun for me. It makes you feel like a kid again to be able to make this much noise.

The best part of all of this however is the people you meet. JeffW and I have been pals for about five years now. I hate the fact that he lives over a thousand miles away from me. I'm really glad you made the trip Jeff, thank you.

Les is another kindred spirit and someone I am looking forward to get to know better.

As for Cynthia and Mark, what a great couple of folks. You straight away get the feeling that your just going to love them, and it proves out that the feeling is right! Thanks ton's for making the trip you two!

I was bummed that Grumpy (who's not at all) Dave couldn't make it. There will be a next time!

Not by name but all the other friends that did and didn't make this meeting.

I have only had this stack out and really worked on it for a couple of nights. The DSP is currently still quite rudimentary. It sounds pretty good with the little work that has been put into it. Far from perfect, but lots of fun. As big as it is, it somehow sounds even bigger.

I intended to work on it Friday night and dial it in a bit more, and clean it up but Jeff and I spent Friday night beating a new CNC mill program for T4338's into submission until we were both good and ready to turn in.

And would someone please clean the dust off those flares? :banghead:

About the dust, we were trying to see if there was any reality the saying "crank it up and blowing the dust out of them."

Nope.

In the end, it is pretty amazing what you can get done with a small rack of mid shelf power and an old stack of good PA gear. I have more than a few large format horns but these are my favorites. The JBL 2365 won't play nearly as loud as the pictured Community 60° radial HF horn while sounding nearly as good and I haven't found a mid horn as smooth as the Community M80 either. I have JBL 4550's as well but the RCA's being two feet longer and with better throat geometry win by a pretty wide margin. It's all JBL drivers and Crown power and DBX processing though. :D

Just for the curious, crossover points are currently at 300Hz and 850Hz. Oh by the way Doc, the M80's have a 2020H's in them. The 2020's beat out 2202's, 2204's, 2206's and TAD (I can't remember the numbers) polymer graphite cone 12's. The 2226's in the Ubangi's beat out 2205's, 2225's, and 2227's. Everything in this stack has earned it's place.

All the best,
Barry.

All very cool, Barry. :) Sounds like it was a great time. I would have loved to hear that rig. I know it's sorta de rigueur that often for people that have large horn assemblies they haven't cleaned them since 1973, if ever (have you ever seen a multi-cell that wasn't pretty scroungy?), but those pix stressed me out.

;) LMAO!

Carry on!

Hi, Jeff,

How many times have you been able to visit the LVAC? It was great meeting you at the event we got to attend. If we lived closer, we'd join up, as the Gentlemen we met were great guys, and we had a great time at Barry's place, enjoying his HUGE JBL system, and seeing the other JBL systems he had there!! Glad you got to attend another meeting. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Mark

Barry and I spent Sunday afternoon after the meet we attended hanging out with Les, so just the one LVAC meet. I also got to hear Barry's home system and the 4350 patio system that same Sunday. Lots of bang for the buck on that trip!

HI Jeff, Doc and All;

Les did a bang up job with a great playlist and presentation. His system is fairly complex in order to demonstrate different speaker systems fairly rapidly and the big surprise is how quiet it is. Most systems with this much stuff wired into it sound like a rain storm without signal, not this one.

He has the biggest Smith horns I have ever seen at 36" wide, they play down to 200Hz, yeah, 200 and at condominium levels and above they sound really good. Truly they are a real surprise, and he made them to boot.

This club is starting to shake its self out and I really have come to like a lot of the guys. Les I like a lot. He was a coil winder among other things at SAE back in the day, 68-75 I think he said and he still has most of the stuff that was gifted him or he bought new, and more that he has collected over the years.

I am sure glad to have met Doc and his Bride at the meeting at my place and getting to see Jeff again is always fun.

All the best,
Barry.

Good Morning, Barry,

Many thanks for your kind words, my friend! We, too, enjoyed meeting you, and the other Gentlemen from the LVAC, and we appreciated your generous hospitality very much. We also really enjoyed our conversations with you, and hope that, one day, we can come over and continue them! If we get a chance, maybe we can drive up to Vegas for a "get-away" from work, and if that happens, it would be great to have dinner together, and spend a bit more time talking about the varied subjects upon which we touched at the LVAC meeting!! We'll give you a shout if it looks like that can happen, and if it works out for you, time-wise, we'd love to see you again! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Mark (Ye Olde Doc)

Jeff and Doc: Well, that's cool to hear you like the club. You're welcome to join at any time.

Barry: Thanks for pointing that stuff out. I didn't realize that stuff about Les' system and I forgot he was an SAE employee. That's cool you and him are now friends. That's part of the club's mission.

Les' system is quite unorthodox compared to today's modern audiophile set-ups which are more flashy and shiny but don't necessarily sound better. It probably is a nightmare for some audiophiles using early solid state with horns. It's definitely a throwback to a different and more simple time in audio (and the world in general); the 50's-early '70s. Before high-end audio really got off the ground, the snobbery took over, and the prices went through the roof. To my complete surprise, it sounds good, so that's really all that matters. It also helps that Les is single! No WAF to worry about! :D

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their participation, interest in, and support of the LVAC. I couldn't do it without all of you!

Things have been very quiet on the LVAC front since last November.

I had bailed out of the club since Dave and I don't see eye to eye and it is his baby after all. This isn't about that however:

Apparently Dave had a major stroke sometime in late November-early December and is still hospitalized. I have no information other than that. I/we don't even know where he is. Kent English was kind enough to let us know that much. Some grapevine huh?

I am saddened as I cannot imagine the outcome for Dave being good at all.

Barry.

Man I hate to hear that. Dave is an interesting guy, that's for sure. I was never more than an occasional visitor to the LVAC get-togethers, but I tip my hat to Dave for bringing folks together for the last couple of years - the LVAC club guys I met seemed like a fun bunch to hang out with. Hope he comes out of it OK and can get back doing fun things!

Morning, Barry,

Dang, I'm sorry to hear about Dave's medical problems, and wish him all the very best in his recovery, if such an outlook is possible. I am also sorry that there were problems between the two of you, and well remember when he wasn't that keen on Cynthia and I coming over to join you Gentlemen a while back. I truly appreciate your having gone to bat for us, and it was good to meet you, and Dave, and the others that fun day!! It was also good to see Dave and talk to him about his allowing us to attend as a visitor. He seemed to soften his previous stance on that front, and I was quite pleased to see that happen. In any case, all water under the bridge, and I surely do hope that Dave can recover, and return to the club, even if not the driving force anymore.

I also wish that we could join you all at future club meetings, and hope to do so, someday. You have a great group, and meeting you all, and other visitors, such as Jeff, was a real pleasure!! I'll never forget Cynthia's joy when you fired up that huge system of yours!! Though she has never been a fan of super loud music, she was totally, and completely in deep love of your big JBL setup! Even across the street a ways, she was dancing away, and having a blast listening to your creation!!! The JBL's were great, the food was great, and the people were great!! A wonderful day, all around! Thanks, again, for hosting that event, and thank you for continuing to keep the JBL LV club alive and well!! Much appreciated, on all fronts, my friend! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Mark

Hi Mark!

This should be fun.

Alrighty then!

Well the meet was a ton of fun. For food I did the same thing as when JeffW and DocMark were here and had Cappriotti's cater. MMM!

One thing I have learned is that obviously people demo stuff that sounds good on there systems. I get that, why wouldn't you. But one thing I have also noticed is that people will avoid, sometimes wildly, playing content that might show their system lacking. Man I am so glad I don't have to worry about that with the 4365's! Don't get me wrong, I still think that I may never fully love a violin reproduced on a horn or a sax reproduced on a cone but these do it all pretty damn well.

There was a lot of interest in the big amps. Most had never seen the Techron 7570 / Crown M600's so I shared their history and what mine are configured / modded for. I told them that I had pulled a four wire 220V 30Amp dedicated circuit just for them and that they will deliver 2kW each from DC to 40kHz into virtually any 2 Ohm load, one of the guys actually said that that scared him and maybe he shoud get out of the way. I had to really try not to laugh and I assured him that I had no intention of blasting them out.

We started out with a live accapella version of James Taylor's "Walk Down That Lonesome Road" from James Taylor Live followed by the Beatles "Because" frome the Love album.

One of the gals here grabbed the guy who takes most of the pictures at these meetings (and who by the way was the only other person here that has previously heard the 4365's) and directed his attention to the gapes and looks of utter astonishment on the faces of the group hearing these voice only track being reproduced at live levels with the authority and clarity that seemingly only a large format horn can do. They just sound so big.

The great part of voice only is that everyone knows what voices sound like and getting a seamless transition from a horn down into cone driver is not easy, and the 4365's do it very well.

I ran tracks for about an hour and then just tuned it over to the group. Some brought vinyl and some CD's but most used phones and other digital players and the like.

Unlike a lot of our meetings, no one left early, and no one suggested that maybe better interconnects or magic power cords might help. In fact no one broke off into other rooms like usual for conversation and what I did hear between changeover from the guys various playback devices and material were thing like "did you ever think speakers like that could sound like that?!?" And "I can't believe the low level detail of those monster amps."

Now please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to say that any of my gear it top tier and that there isn't room for improvement, especially in the front end of my system. What I am saying is that the 4365's exceeded everyones expectations by a wide margin, and that is very cool.

We kind of threw this meeting together and judging by the turnout I believe that what Dave worked so hard on creating will continue to thrive and grow. I also truly hope that he will be able to rejoin us and see that we have been good stewards of the LVAC in his absence.

I will advance the next time we get together at my place much sooner as I would sure love to see some of my friends here at Lansing again.

As always, if you ever get out here to the land of lunatics that is Las Vegas and have a mind to, give me a yell and come on over!

All the best,
Barry.

Good Morning, Barry,

Many thanks for an excellent report on your get together! I sure wish we could have been there again, as I know we would have LOVED the JBL's, amps, and fellowship, not to mention the outstanding comestibles, as we had last time! Well done for keeping this thing going, and I am sure that Dave will approve of how things turned out, and be proud that his baby still lives! Hopefully, as you so rightly said, he can return and join in the fun again. Yes, please do keep us all posted, in advance, of future Club meetings, as Cynthia and I would love to come and visit again. Hopefully, Jeff can make it as well, as it would be great to see you, him, and the other nice folks we met the first time around. Thanks, again, for your report, and for your efforts to keep this group together! Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,

Last time I was out there, I stayed at the MGM. I knew there was an In-N-Out Burger just across I-15, but I wasn't driving this time. I spent a Saturday tooling around town with Barry, and we stopped at one way out north of town, closer to the Speedway. In the middle of the afternoon, well past lunch hour, that place was standing room only. Since there are none out in this part of the world, I snagged a tee shirt.

So yeah, the burgers weren't anything to write home about, but I'm the only kid on my block with a Las Vegas In-N-Out tee shirt. :D

I missed a note Wednesday that the founder of the Las Vegas Audio Club, David Apoin has passed on over to the great audio club in the sky.

I have no first hand news but apparently he was at home and I hope he went in peace.

A very early end after a series of physical tragedies, very sad indeed.

His services and burial will be held in his home town of Detroit.

Keep on rocking brother!

Jesus.

It's amazing how close you can feel to a total stranger on the internet; felt profoundly when news breaks of their passing.

Dave and I were not close, but he was a member of the part-time family that assembles here from time to time to discuss similar interests.

My condolences and best wishes go out to his family and friends in their grief.

RIP,
