Hi. This is my first post so thanks in advance for your kind help. I'm starting a 3 way DIY with a 2404, 2426/2370, and low end yet to be determined. I was just wondering if JBL ever put these (or similar) drivers together and if so, what model(s) & passive x-over did they use. If not, any ideas on some simple x-over designs?

Also what lens fit the 2370?

Any related suggestions would also be welcomed.

Thanks

Are you sure you mean 2370 (rectangular flat front biradial horn, with no further lens)
and not 2307 (round exponential... which would use a 2308 lens)?

That said, neither will match particularly well with pattern control of the 2404... nominally 100x100 degrees.
(80x45degrees with the horn/lens pair, 90x40 for the biradial).

All that said, there's no reason one couldn't assemble them to sound reasonably good.

I'd look for systems that run the 2426/2xxx set out to 7-10KHz and others that bring in the 2404
about the same place. The 2370 horn will need some compensation (rising eq) to play flat
(beyond a textbook type crossover). You'll also need to know whether the 2426 is a nominal 8 or 10
ohm unit (-H or -J suffix), and that the diaphragms in them match what you expect.

Are you sure you want to use the 2370? It's not the best sounding horn. If it were me, I'd be looking at some of the better modern horns, which are also generally cheaper than the 2370.

The 2404 will definitely sound louder, if you design around a flat axial response- you'll want to roll off the top end a bit to make up for the taller pattern of the 2404.
