Finally after 5 years bargain hunting for the components I almost got all of the components from my wish list. Ideally I need one more 2235h or a recone set to convert a 2225 into a 2235.

But now the next problem. Convincing the wife to let me build the speakers for the living room. Based on the recommended size of 5 cubic feet for the 2235h I designed an enclosure that would be the same size as my sp225-9 cabinets from my PA system. This was not a good reference point for my wife. Also because my shed is filled with a JBL PA system (sound power sp125s, sp128s, sp212-9 and sp225-9. As stated by my wife “That's not going to happen you already have enough junk and loads of spare drivers piled up in the attic, And what if we get kids than there is no room for them”. :crying:

So back to the drawingboard it is. The very difficult task I’m facing now is to design a cabinet that suits my wife and tune it afterwards in a silent room with the bass ports and some damping materials.

The components are: 2235h, 2218h, 2344 with 2426 H or J. and a 2404H. As an bargain hunting example I paid €100,- for two 2344 horns with 2426j drivers.
For test purposes I have an 2231a and 2220a with 2235h cone. So basically I can start building my project and keep hunting for the last 2235h or an original c8r2235 recone

The limitations that I’ve set for the cabinets is 16 inch wide 20 inch deep and the height can vary between 44 inch (preferred) to 35 inch with a separate box for the 2404H. So I am redesigning the cabinets with Google sketch and I will try to convince the wife. So hopefully I can order the wood next week and start the build. They will definitely have curved side panels.

The first question that I have is regarding the drivers. All of the drivers except the 2426j are 8ohm. Is it wise to use 2426h drivers? I got a pair new in the box so it’s easy to swap them.

Depending on how low you cross over the 2118, the 2235 could mount on the side,
potentially reducing your needed cabinet width. One member here (at least) has
successfully done this with a 12" JBL driver

Got the project into the next step. Closed a deal with the wife regarding the budget. She went on a christmas shopping spree and told her i would spend the same amount on my projects :applaud:

An original c82235 is ordered and i've send the sawplans to an CNC shop nearby to get a bid on the CNC routing for all the panels.

Hey, another Cheeseface ;)
I like the looks! This will be a big cab, 110-115cm tall?:)

Good to see that there are more Cheesehead JBL addicts :D The cabs are 120cm tall. Thats the biggest problem. Hopefully they will be accepted in the livingroom otherwise Plan B will come in. Buy a new house with a large mancave.
