I finally found the goes into list (https://www.google.se/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jblproservice.com%2Fpdf%2FGoe s Into List%2FGoes Into List.pdf&ei=tv-TUbXfHaqo4gTTx4HwBg&usg=AFQjCNGr7qhItMVkEa8Q7uKvn7oRrjtvAQ&sig2=QR4PK16DmBtTyp3VrJrc9g&bvm=bv.46471029,d.bGE). Very dissapointing reading. JBL stopped producing a number of cone kits. It is not much fun to design for a driver that cannot be repaired. I have no idea on how this affects market value of working drivers, but cores should be worthless.

I'm glad I bought six of the 2123H cause they might be next. Do you know if the 111A 10" has been obsolete yet cause I have some of them also?

The more I think about it the angrier I get. Thomann lists 24 EV cone kits (http://www.thomann.de/se/search.html?KF=on&gk=palplkrk&oa=ala&bn=EV&pr=&wgfid1=11210&wgf11210=), but only 8 jbl cone kits (http://www.thomann.de/se/search.html?KF=on&gk=palplkrk&oa=ala&bn=JBL&pr=&wgfid1=11210&wgf11210=). The EV kits are more than half the price of JBL kits.

Can it be that JBL kits are so expensive that people just buy new drivers instead of repairing old? And when they don't sell enough kits JBL drops them?

Did they not look at what the competitions is doing? EV used to be as expensive as JBL, but they dropped their prices. Appeartly they also sell them. Ever heard of aftermarket kits for EV?

The thread E140 = 2225??? (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?7850-E140-2225&highlight=Recone+Basket+list) lists which old drivers are mechanically equivalent. Old E cores can be reused as frankenwoofers using C8R2235, C8R2225 and C8R2202.

Ill start a DIY thread about equipping obsolete drivers with aftermarket cones.

We were warned in 2010 to get what we needed/wanted at that time because it was all coming to an end. This is three year old news now.
Did they not look at what the competitions is doing?Well, they have moved to significantly lower labor markets but I guess they forgot to scale their pricing accordingly. :rotfl: People had been whining about the prices of JBL recone kits for years, hell, even some JBL employees had lamented the prices for years...

I joined the forum 3 years ago, and this information must have passed me by.

Well, they have moved to significantly lower labor markets but I guess they forgot to scale their pricing accordingly. No, you've got it all wrong... the cost of production went up. Higher reject rates... and the amortization of new facilities and the cost of decommissioning the old facilities. The prices must go up. :banghead:
