A few years back I was given an old set of Cabaret 4690A's in exchange for some work I did in one of the clubs here. The finish on one of the cabinets was in rough shape, the "potato masher" units had been replaced with aftermarket horn loaded tweets of the wrong impedance, and the grilles had been replaced with "waffle grilles". They, however, still had the original E140's loaded in them, and both of the E140's were in excellent shape and fully functional.

I cut out the hole for the Pyle PH612 flare from Parts Express, applied some satin black paint to the baffle, attach the 2426J driver minus the bolt on adapters to the horn, and presto!

For this application, the E140's are being replaced (temporarily until I source up a second 2226H) with a pair of 2225's I had kicking around. Full faced steel grilles lined with acoustically transparent foam are next, followed with modification of the jackplates replacing the 1/4 inch plugs with speakon connectors.
