Crossover options

I just purchased a JBL Synthesis S2S subwoofer to augment my JBL L5 main speakers. I am looking for a crossover that will help me integrate the sub into my system. I am using an Audio Research LS3 preamp and a Yamaha PC2002M power amp for the L5s. I have a new Yamaha P2500S power amp on the way for the sub. I will bridge the P2500S for the S2S. So far I have been considering a Behringer CX3400 or perhaps an Ashly XR1001. I am just wondering what other crossovers I should be looking at. Thanks.

A friend tried a CX3400 for a while, and was never quite happy with the sound. He thought it added noticeable distortion at times. Behringer isn't known for consistency, so perhaps it was simply a partly defective unit.

I've been pretty satisfied with my DCX2496, although I changed the coupling caps to get the most out of it:

P2500S already has a built in 12dB/oct filter settable from 25-150Hz.
You could use that (set low) and let the L5's run full range, at least to get started.

Have you already solved the issues in going from your unbalanced LS3 to the
balanced-in pro amplifiers?

Right now I am just using RCA-1/4" cables. It seems to work but I do notice a bit of low level hum. I have been wondering if I need a DI box of some type. I was going to try an ART CleanBox Pro, but I am fairly new to pro amps so I am not sure if that is what I need or not.

I will just run to the L5s full range to start and utilize the filter in the P2500S. Thanks for the tip.

Edit: Won't I still need something that can sum both channels to feed the P2500S?
