hello !!
i just got a pair of jbl k140 for my 4520 project. the speakers are in good condition except a small hole on the suspension of the one. These speakers will play in home environment with a st 70 dynaco 2*35 watts so no great movement from the speakers. If ι leave it as is will I have problems in the future?
What is the best way of repair (except the recone)? thanks!

I think a small piece of gauze put on the 'back side' with few drops of PVA based glue (white-glue, later transparent), but first try to practice.

All the best

JBL K140 K140-4 K140-16 15" Cloth Surround Speaker Edge Repair Kit CLSK-JBL2225 @ ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-K140-K140-4-K140-16-15-Cloth-Surround-Speaker-Edge-Repair-Kit-CLSK-JBL2225-/130819049913?pt=US_Speaker_Parts_Components&hash=item1e756c49b9). A bit pricey, but you get two surrounds. I have no experience with this kit. There should be other kits available.

You better check that K140 and 2225 use the same surround.

why to change the surrounds for so small damage? its more risky i believe than just repair the hole! or leave it as is

high quality rubber cement and a small piece of thin denim from a pair of jeans glued to the backside...

then a little touch up with a sharpie..:)

I've repaired this type of damage before with material from a pair of women's nylons and contact cement.
