A local seller sells a pair for $15000 and claims they costed $20 000 in 1986! Are they THAT good and how is the sound? What do they sound more like? JBL or Klipsch? Can they work with solid state or just tubes?

Thanks for the interesting cross-post from AK.

Not sure what they have to do with Lansing Heritage but they look intriguing.

That's exactly why I posted in General Audio section! And they certainly look impressive. Almost as huge as 4345 with 18 woofer as well!

I really, really doubt it. In absolute terms, I can't imagine the sonic performance keeps up with other offerings in that price range, and as for their collector value? Hard to say, they certainly are not as famous as the Paragon.

Ill say one thing for them. They look unique. They look like that one crazy looking loudspeaker ev made. Not the partician but I think it had a 30" woofer though. Maybe in the 80's. I wish I could think of the name. ERRRR.

I auditioned them yesterday and they sound amazing. Close to JBL but more musical and smoother or so it seemed. The room was tiny but I'm seriously choosing between them and 4345/4344. Only I'm puzzled why one Earth are they SO totally unknown! No info whatsoever, not even a manual available anywhere!

How is that possible?? :duck:Well, from my first impressions they indeed sound better than 4345 though maybe just a little bit less bassy and powerful (no don't get me wrong Black Sabbath S/T sent me straight to 1970 - it was THAT authentic!) . But the midrange is more open and beautiful and there are less boxiness. The cabinets seem to be better made so the resonances are minimal. But overall they sound pretty similar to 4345, definitely the same (old) school of sound. I'm sure every JBL nut would love them.
