Before Meyer started building their own drivers and diaphragms, they used JBL 2441s for their large format drivers. They continued using 2441 diaphragms in other JBL drivers after JBL stopped producing the alnico classic.

Do not pull the diaphragm from the Meyer... they are individually installed and and shimmed as needed in an anechoic chamber.

Yes, it's the compression drivers pulled from Meyer MSL-3A boxes.

Diaphragms look like the usual JBL aluminum and titanium units, as found in 2441 and 2445 drivers.

Diaphragms look like the usual JBL aluminum and titanium units, as found in 2441 and 2445 drivers. That was my point... Meyer continued to buy JBL 2441 diaphragms that they hand installed and calibrated in other JBL drivers after the 2441 driver was discontinued. Even though titanium diaphragms are more durable, Meyer never used them in their compression drivers due their sound quality.

Quite a few years ago Meyer started building their own drivers in house. In their own drivers they use aluminum domes, but they bond them to mylar surrounds instead of the JBL diamond surrounds.

Looks like they are doing like Radian with their mylar "suspension"...Kind of...

I'd say it is like Chevy and Ferrari both using V8s.;)

if you look close you will find a thin bead of clear silicone near/on the diamond suspension. it's the very flexible mil-spec stuff. every meyer I saw had it - both alnico and Nd mags with the 2441 dia.

My Meyer 2441 got the silicone stuff on the surround. They also use ferrofluid in the gap.
