those are the JBL 136HS as used in the synthesis subs.

it's a 2220H frame, 2226H conekit with aquaplas and a bucking magnet on the back for (not anymore ) reducing TV interference.

A very hard to find woofer but it's TS parameters are different enough that it's not a direct replacement.

More of a 2225 cone kit no?
I believe the VCG series are not compatible with the older 2225-2205-2235 frames/motors, and the compliance does not suggest a 2226 either.

I don't see enough of the top plate to know if it's a 2220's motor, but the bucking magnet aside, I looks exactly like a 2225.

How can this be, when the 2220 is not interchangeable with any other cone kits?

I refer you to post#7 in the following thread:

The frames are the same but the magnet baskets are not. The 2220 has a very tight gap that the other kits voice coils can't fit into.

I actually had one here that was ripped all round the former that I rebuilt.

See this thread:

It's entirely possible that the 2220 gap was made larger but I did not measure before re-assembly...oops..

And my recollection is that the 2220 gap wasn't any different than the 2225...again, my old old notes are in storage.

I have a 2220A with a ribbed cone marked 52254. The voice coil is travelling without touching the gap. Whether the voice coil is correctly positioned within the gap is another story.

Does anyone know what cone 51154 is? I have a few other cores which need new cones.

I have heard rumors that there are no 2220 kits available, but orange county speaker repair (http://www.speakerrepair.com/page/RECNEPRC.html) lists them (as repair, not as cone). Does anyone know?
