I thought I'd share this with the Forum... the DD66000s have been reduced and will likely go fast. There are new finishes available in the Everest Line, and there is the new little brother to the S4700.

Why do I not seem to remember hearing about a DD6500?
I know what separates the 6700 from the 6600 but what's the deal with the 6500 and do they actually still make those?

Yes, when the remaining 66000s are gone the new Everests will be more expensive than the K2 S9900s.

Bryston sp-3

nice product in my opinion and nice complement to the synthsis line probably has the logic 7 in the soft ware or maybe QL7

It leaves th video procesing out of the unit witch is a great idea.

I hope the JBL unit has something for the extra $1000 besides the silkscreened logo on the front.

I hope the JBL unit has something for the extra $1000 besides the silkscreened logo on the front.I have no idea what is on the inside, but the two year 48 hour replacement warranty is worth a hell of a lot in my world.

Far more the another surround mode, HDMIxxx, or 4K.

Definitely. Not quite worth the $20000 USD, imo.

Definitely. Not quite worth the $20000 USD, imo.Things have really gotten out of hand...

The main thing to keep in mind is the target market. These things cost this much to appeal to people who simply would never spend less.

The cost of the components are no longer a major portion of the bill and that's why certain companies are no longer interested in selling components at all.

if you put them at 7500 a pair there is stil going to be people say it is way to expensive

sadly it is all about optimazing profit @ a cartain target as giskard says

lets say the cost is 2000 and harmans sells it at 7350 to the master distributor and he sels to the store @ 10500 and the store, thy sell it too you @ 15000

Harman has to think how many unit will it sell @ 15000 let say 1000 pair that is 5,350,000 profit

now let say that if the msrp was have the price @ 7500usd and expected to sell the triple (3000 pair)

the cost is the same 2000 but harman has too sell @ 3675usd too the master distributor so he can sel it 5250 to the store and the store sells it too you @ 7500usd

harman profit would be 1675usd times 3000 that would do 5,025,000 thats 325,000 usd less

so you have to sell more than triple to get to the same margin

then stratergy comes in too play synthesis revel and mark levinson are a brand making bussines for car and consumer products

I agree, and that's very true. High end pricing is really crazy nowadays.

At least in the US, there is rarely a master distributor. Often there are manufacturers representatives but they don't buy and resell the product, they work on commission, so there is only the markup from manufacturer to retailer here in the vast majority of cases. Those prices are ridiculous. What happened to the Arrays?

Those prices are ridiculous. It was suggested just the other day that anyone who thinks those prices are rediculous is rediculous.

Living in the past when gas was twenty-five cents a gallon and all that.

This is real life and there are plenty of low price point products to choose from. :dont-know:

All that is really lacking for me are new 3-4 way speakers with 12"-15" woofers priced between the L890 and the Array 1400. The only one that comes to mind is the PT800/PS1400, now discontinued. It would be really cool if JBL would come out with a classic series line. Modern versions of select speakers from the L100 to the 250ti, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon. Too bad, vintage gear and looks are in.

Too bad, vintage gear and looks are in.I guess it depends on your idea of vintage retro styling... I'd suggest the S3900 and S4700 are pretty retro.

As for the Performance Series, they languished in the warehouse for over a decade... No one bought them. I sell a wide array of systems and don't think I could sell a 250Ti at any price $200-$20,000pr to any of my customers.

I guess you're probably right though if you do come across some 250ti's hiding in your warehouse for around $2k, let me know a.s.a.p.!!!:)

But to be fair JBL did come out with the speakers I have in mind, like the TL260. Which, though not really a 250ti, would be very nice to hear. We just weren't worthy of them?:dont-know:

The LSR 6332 looks to be a modern 4412, (complete with 12" woofer) which would be nice to see in a hifi version (a.k.a L100T).

Not that there's anything wrong with the one's you've suggested! ;)
