Hello all from Russia :)
Quite recently I became the happy owner of excellent acoustics of JBL K2 S9500.
Whether tell please there were on sale for it loudspeakers (1400ND, 475ND) or they are laid already off? Whether it is possible to use any analogs?
Whether and it is possible to buy still grills top and bottom for loudspeakers?
Whether this acoustics in the market and what it now the price, if acoustics in an excellent condition is in demand?
I compared s9500 to my B&W nautilus 802, and so JBL plays much better than B&W.
Excuse for my bad English)
Thanks.

Hello from Germany and congratulations,:applaud:

i'm a proud owner of the K2 since 4 month. For me it is the very best looking loudspeaker.:)

As i know, it is not possible to get the drivers from JBL, only used.
I thing it is not a good idea, to put other speakers in this cabinet.

It is not possible, to get the grills for the K2. At mine, there is missing one grill for the bottom.
I have rebuild two new grills for the bottom. Look here in german:
http://www.hififorum.at/forum/showthread.php?t=6580

or here for the active crossover JBL DX-1:

You can probably use a 2450H and SL diaphragms for a 475ND equivalent (both can still be get new from JBL, but getting a used 2450H would probably be a good solution, especially if you are going to put new diaphragms in them anyway).
The 475ND looks like a 8 ohms driver (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?12060-M9500&p=122613&viewfull=1#post122613) though, so you would have to get a 16 ohms SL diaphragm (not sure those exist!).

As for the 1400Nd, you can get some used 1400Pro on the used market and ask Guido to do the reconing with new 1400Nd kits.

But the, what is you exact situation?
Do you have the driver but need them repaired? Or do you only have the enclosures?... Or do you simply want some spare driver just in case?

On Ebay you can get diaphragmas for the 475ND:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-K2-ORIGIONAL-D8R475ND-DIAPHRAMS-New-unopened-midrange-driver-diaphrams-/280908019298?pt=US_Speaker_Parts_Components&hash=item41676c3662

or the whole driver:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-475ND-DRIVER-PAIR-SUPERIOR-TO-JBL-375-2440-OR-ANY-PM-JBL-DRIVER-475-ND-/200872764594?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speaker_Drivers_Horns&hash=item2ec4f324b2
but i think, it is a bit pricy!

Thanks a lot for congratulations.
I want to buy new loudspeakers for K2 s9500 just in case that then it was possible to replace in case of breakage.

I was written off with this seller - http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-K2-ORIGIONAL-D8R475ND-DIAPHRAMS-New-unopened-midrange-driver-diaphrams-/280908019298?pt=US_Speaker_Parts_Components&hash=item41676c3662
He says that diaphragms new, original and they on 8 ohms. In the original on K2 S9500 there are after all 8 ohms?
I want to buy from it these diaphragms a pro-stock)))

If you want spare parts, then just buy diaphragms and cone kits (and stock the cone kits in a dark and dry room, if possible in a sealed bag, to avoid foam rotting).
For one thing it it sure that the M9500 do have 16 ohms diaphragms in them (see the measurement above), and I would imagine the S9500 has the same.
It could also be possible that they are 16 ohms diaphragms with an "8 ohms" marking, which would not be the first time from JBL (LE85...)

You adjusted active crossover JBL DX-1 for our acoustics (S9500)?
Everything works for you?

Thanks a lot.
I will buy from this seller of a diaphragm, the main thing that they suited me (if are necessary in the future)
As I read at this forum that for M9500 there were two types of diaphragms of D8R475ND (8 ohms, green marking) and D16R475ND (16 ohms, red marking)....

You adjusted active crossover JBL DX-1 for our acoustics (S9500)?

Yes, sure, but today it is a prototype, in the next weeks i will get the final DX-1.

Everything works for you?

Yes, a friend of me rebuilt that with S9500 cards, and it works fine!
The S9500 sounds more detailed, better in the bass (more bottom), better in the mids and hights (more detailed and better soundstage).

Hi pos, i am a little confused!

When i bought my S9500, i have got from the seller two diaphragmas the same as on ebay "D8R4750" (and four recone sets for the 1400ND!:D)

As you can see here the 475nd driver in the M9500 is a 16 ohms version.
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?12060-M9500&p=122613&viewfull=1#post122613

Whether or not the one in the S9500 is sussposed to be 16 ohms, I don't know.

I answered to your Email yesterday:

"Hello autosky,

yes, in a few days I will drive my S9500 with the active crossover “JBL DX-1”. A friend of me rebuilds it for me and another friend,
because it is very, very rare. There are build only 500 from JBL and over 180 of these were going for scrap.

In this thread here (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?33540-Need-help-to-rebuild-DX-1-for-K2-S9500) you can find the schematic of the DX-1 and the cards for the S9500.

On Lansing-forum you can get the user guide, too.

We have tested a prototype and I t was a big improvement: better soundstage, more detailed, better bass and highs.

The best way is, that you rebuilt a DX-1 for yourself.

Here in Europe the K2 S9500 costs in very good condition 17.000 US$, too.

A friend of me bought them from a France JBL dealer for 17.000 US$ with original boxes and the bass driver were refoamed.
I bought mine also for this price, but with 4 recon kits for the bass speaker 1400ND and two diaphragms for the 475ND.
But one grill for the lower bass failed, so I let rebuilt two in aluminum.

I don’t have heard the S9800 or S9900 nor the Everest II, so I can’t say.
I like the sound of the S9500, it is smooth, not fatigue.

Excuse my bad English, too.

Best regards

Dieter"

PS: the light at the horn:

Behind the horn at the acryl i installed a line of small LEDs,something like that with a dimmer:

Hello Guys,

I am also a very happy owner of K2 S9500 that I consider as one of the best JBL speakers.
I tried different amps:
- Spectral DMA80M (mono version of stereo unit DMA80). Too short to drive correctly the 2 woofers.
- Spectral DMA 360. Great bass and soundstage, but tones are a little bit to lean for my point of view.
- Manley reference 240 (EL34). Bass was not good but tones were more luxurious
- Halcro DM68. Great !!! Everything is there, from top to buttom, dynamic and sweet together. Great amp, great match.

I am also interested by your experience with DX1, please keep us inform. Some person consider that the active way is the only one to know what these K2 can really do.

Best
Ugo

Hi :-)

I'm a jbl fan from Norway, and i have a dx-1 crossover with xpl 200 cards for my xpl's.
but i also have a pair of jbl k2 s9800, and it says in the manual that you can use dx-1 with them.
Is there anybody who have knowledge of this? Is there cards for s9800?
I am very interested in getting cards for s9800 and also s9500, cause i've always wanted a pair of s9500 and m9500 :-)

I would really appreciate it if someone has or have knowledge of how to get them.

Don't hesitate to try all of the woofer configurations by changing the jumper bar settings... they are available to better integrate the speakers with your room and can make quite a difference.
