Not necessarily a surprise; seeing something strange on ebay, but this was.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-4645C-Cinema-Subwoofer-/281045206098?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speakers_Monitors&hash=item416f998452

Take a look at the picture of the back plate for the subwoofer and see where it's made... It's a full continent away from where I thought it would be made.

Oh and no affiliation either.

Redcoat.

I have half a dozen JBL venue series speakers that were made in the UK. It is odd

It made me wonder about the legal definitions regarding being able/allowed to use "Made in ..."; as opposed to "Assembled in ...". I would have thought they just assemble them in the UK (Ship in the drivers, perhaps build the cabinet), rather than build the drivers in the UK.
Labour costs for the UK wouldn't seem to be fiscally reasonable enough to make the drivers there - much like the shifting of construction out of Northridge.
Then there's the final question of why something apparently made in the UK was then shipped state-side:confused:

Maybe the label was made in the UK but the box by enslaved children somewhere no one talks about. ;)

In this day and age I wouldn't be at all surprised
