I`ve noticed that my newly acquired 4430s have what appear to be a provision for suspending.
There are two L shaped metal bars that run internally along the bottom and are fastened with 1/4-20 hardware, where the short side is attached to the lower baffle by four bolts.

Seeing my pair had been in a studio environment, I figured it was a CBC mod until I came across other net photo`s that have the same.
Anyone else notice this?

I wondered the same thing. My 4435's have the same bars in them. I though that perhaps they my be intended as a providing a way to secure them down rather than suspend them.

Suspending monitors "upside down" is not rare... IIRC, there was some mention of
that specifically for this monitor series in regard to the vertical listening angle... perhaps
in the David Smith description...

Ah, here it is:

The 0 degree and 15 degree up curves were both about equally good. This would work well if the system was floor standing or even if inverted and mounted over a studio window.

we used to fly the 4430's upside down in small nightclub apps.
Most of the large format monitors had that hardware.

Anyone measured the position of these screws for the 4435?

There are only a few poor photos in the www showing the o-ring bolts.
