2450-SL and 2435HPL...is one better than the other?

It depends on the horn: the 2435Be will be very good on H9800 clones, but will have issues above 10khz (with strange directivity behavior) on most "short" horns (PT waveguides, 2332, etc.). So a tweeter shall be in order...
The 2450SL is less efficient in the midband, but goes straight to 20khz and has no issue on any horn.

In listening comparisons on the same horns, I found the 2450SL to be more natural and less constrained in general (and much easier to EQ), but the 2435 seemed to have an edge on some electronic music where its superior efficiency and "immediacy" where noticeable (for what that sort of opinion is worth...)

All in all, I prefer the 2450SL. If you want the best of both world you can still stick Truextent Be diaphragms in the 2450SL!

+1 on the 2450SL

And the Truextent diaphragm is an excellent upgrade option.
