Hello. I have tried to search for this topic, but failed to find much information. I was wondering if anyone knew what JBL used to "dope" the surrounds found on woofers from 4311, L100, 4312 etc. If the doping has melted off, what can i use to re-apply the dope. Elmers glue + water?

I dont know exactly what the dope is but I know its not elemers glue and water. Its a type of very thick oil. If you used elemers glue Im thinking you would turn your woofers into a big set of tweeters that didnt work very well,LOL.

Im sure someone can chime in, maybe Harvey Gerst will chime in or you could pm him.
But there are others here that know, im sure.

I had a pair of JBL 4312A speakers with those treated surround-
I can tell you it is NOT Elmers or any kind of glue ...
its probably more like a sticky beeswax combo - but its not beeswax!
