Newer, fancier version of the JBL L36 decade. Mark Gander was the design engineer if I remember correctly.

A design evolving out of the “Decade” series of systems. There should be some background info in the library. Essentially a series of systems using less robust drivers (woofers really) but still of good quality. The cabinets had the well established JBL craftsmanship.

I saw them, though never heard them, in their time of their introduction but I do recall hearing the L36.

They had 3 big features in their favor.

- They were a JBL design.
- They had JBL drivers and cabinets.
- They were 3-ways.

Compared to the bulk of cheap, no-name speakers packaged together with receivers in the day these models were standouts even if they did allow for some economies compared to the higher end models.

Put them on either side of a late 70’s high end receiver and they would give you no shame. Then again, maybe you are not an old codger like me who came of age in the 70s.

I was "gifted" a single L50 cab with woofer only , so never got to hear it ....was amassed tho at the
size of the huge network ...made the L36's net look dinky.
