Hello guys,

What do you think about horns for the 1 inch drivers ?
Use the small ones or the big 2 Inch with adaptors ?

As far as horns the only one I have any real time with are all 1" and my favorite is still a bias towards the 2344 although the 2307/ Lense and 077/2405 give it a run for the money and are a very very close second IMHO. I don't see the advantage with the larger 2" horns with a 1" driver simply because it doesn't pay to push the smaller drivers down to low.

In my experience using various adapters to fit a 1" drivers to a 2" horn have all been disappointing. The 1" drivers sound their best on horns designed specifically for 1" drivers, and to some extent specific horns designed for specific drivers are even more optimal.

In general I prefer 2" drivers and 2" horns. I currently only listen to 1.5" and 2" drivers. They do generally sound their best with the addition of a super tweeter.

No I don't see any advantage, Most larger format drivers do a better job below say 800Hz than a 1" driver. The larger 2" horns are designed to load with a usable range well below where a 1" driver can safely operate with any real power handling. A 2416 will sound great at 1K or above push it below that and it gets harsh. A 2" 2441 will go to 500Hz just fine but up high needs help. The better 1" horns are usually designed to take advantage of the better upper extension of the 1" drivers. An example is the 2344 which has a difraction slot to do just that. With a 2" horn most slots are too wide to help control the upper octave, If they close off the throat too much you run into other problems. As Widget says most sound best with the drivers they were designed to work with.
