Hi all,

Done some searching but havent had too much luck. Im looking for the inner dimension of the 2328 horn throat. Anyone have it or know where I can find it? I know widget posted a drawing of a modified horn throat but Im looking to diy some for 800hz.

Thanks,
Nick

I could settle for a verbal explanation of the interior of the throat. I'm going to make my own 2397's but Im stumped on the throats.

Please, any help would be great.

Thanks,
Nick

have touched the point of the adapter to horn-lips construction too. There for DD66000, but the "story is the same" .Also some 'idea' from the post:

But some practical DIY can be seen in the post:

and this for sure

where Mr.Widget said: "..Here is a custom throat I have tested. It has a smoother response above 1500Hz than the 2328. There is a sacrifice in lower frequency performance. Widget.." "..A note about the 2397 plot of mine posted above... if you read the notes at the bottom of the plot you'll notice that both curves are of the 2397 with a TAD TD-4001. One is using the standard 2328 throat adapter and the other a custom made adapter. Had I used a JBL 2441, the curves would have been fairly similar but slightly less extended and less linear..."

Thanks guys,

How is it that I search and search and never have any luck. Just never get the verbiage quite right. Guess it's old hat too yall.

I have to say the internals are not at all what I expected.

But thatnks again.

These have the casting tell tales of the JBL 2328's and sure look JBL to me except no bulge, just a smooth transition from 2" to rectangle. I don't know what has been cut off the flange or if they were just dressed up.

A friend has them on a pair of 2397's. Anyone know what they are?

Looks like someone just deburred them. That bit on the round flange was probably some flash. Judging by the finish it could be JBL, I think.

But Im no expert. How do they sound and what frequency does your friend have them crossed on the low end?

I wanted to diy a pair opf 2397's but these alway stopped me in my tracks. Never could figure out a way to make those transitions.

I have a pair of cast metal reducers that bolt onto the Smith horn (rectangle) and reduce it down to a 2" round outlet like the 2445 drivers.
Try as I might, the larger adapters don't seem to have a model number on them!
I also have a pair of adapters that bolt on to the 2" adapters above and take them down to 1" drivers,
like the 2425s. Those adapters have a JBL label that says 2327.
