Hi everyone, I just want a know the difference between a open back cabinet, such a fender guitar cabinet and a ported cabinet.I have read a lot a thread on that and its not clear for me, i planed to build a guitar cabinet cabinet, and i'm little confused about the rules to apply when you built one a these cabinet, and finally, witch one have the better sound. Ihave two E130 for my project.

Thanks

a ported box helps tune the bass freq of the cab. That's a very simple explanation for the ported box w/out getting into great detail. Honestly for a guitar cab i'd stay w/an open back, gives a more "open" sound. A good head w/a solid woofer will give tight accurate bass with clean mids which give that nice "crunch" tone. You don't really need to tune the bass freq especially when using a 6string, which I'm assuming you're using. I'd use a closed cab over a ported cab in a guitar setup if that were my only two choices. If you want more bass get a full stack.
