I was looking at the JBL Synthesis Interconnect kit S2500IC on the clearance page. I have been slowly changing my 2 channel set-up. I am now running a complete Emotiva set-up with my Arrays and wanted to change out the interconnects for an all matching solution. Basically "Bling" I wanted it to look nice. I sprung for the kit and what I got is really quite nice! They are made by Straight Wire and appear to be the same as their Encore 2 cables. Same construction 4 conductors and a shield with a woven and then a clear cover over that.

What I got was 4 pairs of standard cables and 3 pairs and a single with 90 degree plugs on one side extra I presume to run 2 subs. Plus the custom din cables I got 3 in my kit. They are very nicely made and I think a bargain at the $125 asking price. They are all on the long side 2 and 2.5 meters so if you like tight no slack cables definitely not for you.

Figured I would pass it on if anyone else was looking for some interconnects.

Rob, do yours have a slightly greasy feel to them? Some time ago I bought two sets from another vendor for $35 a set, and the cables had a light, greasy coating on them. A simple wipe down took it off, and they've worked fine every since.

The same cables came with the Synthesis® One Array system, and they had no residue at all.

Hello TD

No they are fine. Nice and clean right out of the box.

Thanks, I see the 1-6, 12-13, 14-15, but the 7-11?

is the lower right set in your pic the 5 cables w/ 90deg on one end?

If we are just going by looks it looks like a Straight Wire Rhapsody.

Yes that's them. The 90 degree will work fine on the back of an amp but may not closely packed on the back of a receiver.

It has 4 conductors not the 6 in the Rhapsody.

If Rhapsody is supposed to sound better, tell yourself they are and they will. Sorry... couldn't resist. :duck:

Actually, I think they are very nice looking and there is nothing wrong with that! Bring on the bling!

Rob

Would you say that they would be easy to shorten, make 2 out of 1?

Sure but just keep in mind that it's not your standard construction. You have 4 insulated wires inside a shield a blue braid and a clear cover. So whatever terminations you choose will have to accomodate that. The ones that are on them have a nice strain relief clamp. It's wired 2 wires to the center condutor + pin and two wires and the shield to ground.

Out of curiosity.... The shields are connected to ground at both ends?

Hello Grumpy

On the pair I check it was one side only for the sheild.

Good to hear. Otherwise, not a lot of point in shielding a twisted pair (or quad) in an unbalanced wiring scheme. :)
