I need to make tuff decision.
I need to to keep just one pair.
What should I keep, 2441,2450 or 2451?
My plan is to get Truextent Be diaphragm in future.

What horns do you have?? 1.5" vs 2.0" What's your best horn? I would also go for the most modern phase plug and compadibility with the Be diaphrams. For me I would choose a 2451 becasue I have Array Horns as an example.

Rob:)

Now I have 2" horns but I will make new one, probably JMCL, Tractrix or Yuichi A290, still not sure :(

> I would want do a lot more research on the following , but , because you want to install "Truextent" diaphragms ( and you live far away from where they are made ) I would keep the driver that has the best chance of getting a good mechanical fit with these new diaphragms ( all the while assuming that once bought, they aren't easily returned ) .

> ( Hopefully I'm not starting a baseless internet rumour but ), I've read a couple of comments about users having problems with these Be diaphragms properly fitting into the older alnico ( 2440/1 ) gaps .

> FWIW, the newer models do have 2 slightly "hogged out" areas ( in the gap ) to accommodate the ever so slight bulge in the coil-winding ( created where the coils wrap over top of the lead-in wire ) .

Keep the 2451. The others have an exit of about 4 degrees. Most JMCL horns have an entry angle much larger, causing a diffraction where the angle changes.

No problems at all here, they are fitting exactly in my 2441's.

the Truextent BEs went in to my 2440 motors without difficulty also...
at least the installer did not mention any difficulties,

I was too chicken s*_t to try fitting them myself, given the material's $$$ investment --
I figured what's another $40 to ensure it is done right...

:D

edit -- i'm using the 2440 motors on either 350Hz Edgars or some DAS (or McCauley???) acoustic lens clones -- hartsfield/serpentine lenses and a 2343 shaped clone horn

funny :)
I attacked mine with an exacto knife -after- talking to the Truextent guys ;)

(bit of excess VC adhesive was making things... difficult... IIRC, those type of
issues have been resolved).

For what it's worth, they went into 2450SL motors on 2352 horns.

I'm enjoying them. Bottoms are currently folded horns, but 4 2234's are ready for cabs :)

Any idea how the 2352 compares to the Yuichi A-290?

I've not had the pleasure of such a comparison. Sorry.

I wonder is it "better sounding", two 15-inch with ultra LF and LF network combination based on the 'mutual coupling' as in DD66000, or 18-inch with 10 (or 12 inch) , that are much less 'overlapped' frequency region (as 4345, ....), but I believe the results would be 'delivered' to us.....

Less components that have to be matched with each other.

I'm working on putting a system together with 2 2226J's in there own cabs with a 2446/Be on Yuichi A290 clone. I'm thinking 750 hz crossover and adding a extra coil for the helper LF driver like the Everest somewhat.

I wish I knew. I have the 2352's . Have made a set of 4355 filters as are on this forum, then mounted a small version LOOK alike:) of the A290, im not sure if the comparison is ok, but the 2352 does something I'm not able to replicate so far, even though the 4355 filter is NOT suited for the 2352 , it still sounded way BIGGER more spacious less comming out of the speaker, it somehow starts to fill the room without ANY power, with even the rubish TV broadcasts its like i'm actualy in a city when theres a movie for example.
the other smaller normal (non cd)horns gave an amazing sound but I gave up, nothing I ever tried could compare with the 2352 so far. BUT my problem is I want a bit more look friendly system, my system is HUGHE for a living room.

I also had dropped my eye on the A290, but I dont dare so far to take the risk, its a BIT expensive if it doesnt work like I want to.

Pictures of the horns setup I tried
