Hi

What I have learned from this forum by Giskard and others is that the voice coil to the LE15A was the same in the 8 ohms and in the 16 ohms versions. JBL used the same spec. voice coil regardless of the two models.

Could this allso be the case with other JBL transducers?

As an exampe, I have LE8Ts which gave the following results when measured:

1. DCR: 12,9 ohm Z: 14,3 ohm JBL label marked as 8 ohms
2. DCR: 3,56 ohms z: 4,7 ohms JBL label marked as 8 ohms (LE8T-H cone)
3. DCR 5,22 ohms z: 7,3 ohms JBL label marked as 8 ohms
(z was measured at 1kHz)
No 2 was found to be the oldest of the speakers measured

When measured two new LE8T-Hs cone kits I found it to be 6,1 and 6,3 ohms (DCR) respectively

A litle bit confusing eh ??!!

Any comments on this subject.......?

LE8 5.1 to 5.9 ohms aquaplas (no aquaplas on early models)
LE8T 5.1 to 5.9 ohms aquaplas
LE8T-2 5.1 to 5.9 ohms no aquaplas
LE8T-X 11.0 to 13.0 ohms no aquaplas

OK Giskard, thank you for the specifications
But............ (you know there is allways a but)

All the measured LE8Ts is the model aquaplas.

Speaker number 2 has a very out of data measurements. Could it be there is a short ?
It functions and sounds OK but I dont know if it is possible to HEAR this kind of damages ?
If there is a short, then nearly half of the voice coil must be shorted ?
Did JBL ever make 4 ohms voice coils for the LE8Ts ?

still confused:confused:
