that's because the "bedroom" DJs/Producers (a market segment buying a ton of production gear in recent years) would have no place to put the monitors... ;)

The SRX738 would be the closest match

What you mean is that you don't like huge 18' in your room?
After k2s9500 and 66000,we don't see double 15' speakers for a long time either, what's wrong with JBL?

We are not the average buyer  We are JBL Fanatics.
We don't care about big boxes and multiple 15 and 18 speakers in our room -
for us its about the results and the beautiful sound IS the result!

Other people prefer beautiful rooms, and speakers are not beautiful to them,
so speakers for them must be small and hidden.

So - better for us in the used speaker market!

i have in my basement stereo system:
4x JBL 2241 (2x 4642A cabinets, 1 per side)
4x TAD 1601a (2 sealed cabinets per side)
2x JBL 2440 be diaphragms on 350Hz edgar or DAS acoustical lens horn
2x JBL 076
2x Fostex bullet

plus four EAW SB48 (dual 8") subwoofers that I am playing around with....

although my wife thinks the system is too large,
i remind her of the physics studies she did at university :)
and that I am in an empirical testing phase still....

it's a fun system to play with, IMO....

Hi Martin!
The 4345 was the only hifi/monitoring speaker produced by JBL to embark a 18", and I think it was not such a success at the time (probably due to the passive xover)

a quote from GT about the 4345 and its reception in the studio monitoring market at the time:

It was never very successful during its life time primarily due to its size. Most people would get something smaller. It also had a reputation for less than detailed bass, which I have always thought was due to the enclosure not being quite large enough.

Fact is dual 15" is assisted alignment (4435 or E2, with only one of the two drivers reaching a high crossover point) seems to typically produce better/deeper/cleaner bass than a single 18"
(that being said, I have 18" in my system, because I think 15" are for sissies ;) (and I cannot even understand how we can let people with 14" participate to this forum :D))

What's wrong with 15's?!? They make perfectly good mid-bass drivers. :p

I guess it can go low enough for some, but augmented by a sub it is simply an outstanding mid-bass. The 2220s aren't bad either, but the curvilinear cone is prone to break up when pushed.

Does it work?,i'm a real pro gear lover,so far i think 4628B is the most suitable PA box that can be moved to the home.that is "pro sound go home".
Zilch may know this, what a pity he's gone.

Dual fifteen have more punch perhaps but they dont have the linearity of the 18.

You just to hear it to know that

Boys and girls, 12", 14", 15", 18"—it's not how big it is, it's how you use it and where you put it. You should know that by now.

Oh boy, now somebody's going to trot out some friggin' graph or spec sheet. Hey if you need that kind of voyeuristic stimulation to get the feeling you need, go for it. All I know is if it feels good, it is good!

This is VERY INTERESTING opinion, to what I absolutely agree, that is why "a shaker" is not the same as drum.

I don't care how big they are!i just want to see various JBL hi-end loundspeakers appear in the maket, such as double twelve, double fifteen, single eighteen,so that we can have more choise.;)
