Hi i am a new member here but a long time JBL owner, my 6260 urei amp recently started to have an intermittent right channel when you first turn it on, it produces sound but its very muted, after a few minutes it will like the flick of a switch all the sudden sound fine, this is one of my favorite amps which i am currently using in my home audio setup and other than this issue sounds fantastic.

I pulled the cover off the speaker relay with intent to take 1000 grit sandpaper to the contacts if need be, but they looked actually OK but i went ahead and gave them a quick dressing up anyway, i put it back together and it made no difference it still does the same thing, so i did some thread searching and came across several mentioning there being another possible culprit, possibly in certain caps or transistors that power the relay? but none of the threads i have found so far go into any detail as to how to fix the problem.

I think or hoping anyway this is something i can repair myself and would appreciate any info pertaining to the specific area and parts i need to repair it.

Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks Chris

The manual is here:

The low voltage supplies are 1/2 wave filtered which puts a big stress on the filtering caps. Replace them all ( and in the relay ckt ) and see if that helps before going crazy elsewhere. electrolytic caps dry out ( and lower in value ) with age.
