Must one remove the Foilcals to gain access to these parts? I`d like to give mine a good cleaning but the thought of messing with those plates is intimidating.
TIA

Yes, it takes off the foilcals, to access the screws.

Merci pour la reponse.
Would heating the plate with a hair dryer help in removing it? I would hate to bend or crease it in the process.

An industrial heat gun is supposed to be the way to do it,
but a higher temperature hair dryer may prove helpful

Removed mine with no problems using a hair dryer and a thin guitar string. A buddy held the gun and with the string wrapped around my knuckles I just pulled it under the plate and all was good.

Good tip. Not having access to a guitar string, I suppose some fishing line would work just as well.
