I just scored the deal of a lifetime. Well I think so. Anyway I just bought a pair of scoop speakers with all old jbl parts. D130's, 1217-190 horns, LE 175 drivers, and N1200 crossovers. I think I am going to sell them to fund a new amp. Anyway I have a pretty good Idea of what the components are worth alone but not for the whole set of speakers in the cabinets. The cabinets were built as a kit as I also have the paper work or everything and a warranty card. I think the components are worth around 1000-1500+. Anyway any help would be great. Before you jump on me for selling them these things are huge and I can't fit them in my place. My KG4's will have to do. Thanks in advance

What would be a fair price for both seller and buyer?

Your best value will be to part them out. The speakers themselves are probably home-built. You can find all those components on eBay if you want to see values.

Yea thats what I thought. I did a completed listings and figured around 1000-1200 on the components. Thanks for the reply.

So would asking 1200 for the set be a fair deal?

Let me start. Shouldn't we start rules to keep people from asking how much they could get for parting perfectly good working speakers? :eek:

Everything is for sale, everything must have a price ...

The children - we want to buy the children ...
- how much for the little boy??

As with everything in the world today, it is always about dollar value.

Allan.

You'll make more money if you part it out.

Who wants a kidney? An eye?

Then sell the rest for the meat.

I don't want to part them out at all. I was trying to see what pairs have sold for recently but I'm having a little trouble.

I guess so since, as others have said, these are mere home-built cabinets. And let me add the driver complement isn't really the best. That enclosure should have, at the least, the 130A and not the D130. $1200 would be fine . . . if they had the right drivers and the cabinets weren't home-made. Double that if the cabinets were original and in great shape. The way they are? You've been told they're worth more parted, and I would agree. Is that a smashed aluminum dust-dome on one of the D130s?

the first time i've smiled all day.

you might want to consider what you are losing

by selling these ...

( you have a prize, why hurry to get rid of these?)

these are mere home-built cabinets.

that might not be a disqualification.

there are many quality home-made boxes.

i don't consider these to not have 'the right drivers'.

i'd say the crossover is more an obstacle to better sound than these components.

and the amplifier choice.

most solid state amps aren't going to sound all that well.

Say what you will but the "correct" LF driver for the 001 is the 130A, not the D130, and that's not a cosmetic issue when you compare the two drivers. The solid-state argument is a bit of BS, too. I ran my 030 systems on a Fisher SA1000 for years until replacing it with a Crown D150 to the betterment of the whole system. And, BTW, I still own the 030s.

The question was how much they were worth. Let's see 'em on Ebay and then we'll know. Plenty of folks who buy there won't know the difference and the result should be pretty good!

my interest would be getting an enjoyable,

as well an accurate sound,

from what is available.

speakerwise.

as a generality maybe.

my context would be different.

`````````````````````````````````
i don't like the crown amp,
all too familiar with it's distortions.
the fisher also has certain limitations
and now we arrive at the point.
what these are worth.
rather than see the 'worth' as a dollar sort of thing,
lets look at what these are really capable of doing.
I don't really see your point, and
your
line
spacing
is beginning to freak me out! If you go back to the original post in the thread, the OP was asking what they are worth. He isn't keeping them and isn't considering it. Their sale value is diminished because the driver complement isn't the best and the cabinets aren't original. And I'm talking about the first pair in this thread, not the ones with the boy for sale!
the point is about worth.
and that money doesn't actually cover
all areas of value, or worth.
the op can change his mind, about keeping whatever he has.
the court in the county i grew up in requires line spacing like this on all documents.
and i find this easier to read.
easier on dyslexics too.
The original post was a request for a monetary evaluation for a
potentially lucrative flip. At least it was forthright.
No need to turn this particular thread into anything else, IMO.
A new thread on value and worth of hi-fi gear might be interesting
discussion area for some.
the title asks for help with value.
i would hope that the op would get more information on what they are
rather than only a dollar figure.
how many times have people expressed sellers remorse on forums?
like on this forum http://www.audiokarma.org/
mind if i quote you ?
Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.:coolness:
