Newbie needs help with Altec Horn 811B

Hello all - be gentle - new to the Altec and the forum.

I have got my hands on a pair of Altec 811b horns cheap. I will be using them in my PA system that is set up in my out house.

other speakers:

2 18inch scoop bins - 30-80hz
2 15inch horn loaded kick bins 80-200hz
2 12inch flared horns 200-500hz
2 8 inch mid 500-6.5khs
2 Altec horns with compressions to be purchased - need to cover 6.5hz and above.

I wanted to know if there was a compression driver that is highly regarded for the horn that would allow use from 6.5khz and above.

A modern off the shelf driver that I could blow without worrying about replacing the diaphram because it is rare or antique.

Any input would help!

although the Altec (3000 series? i think) tweeters are excellent units, the drivers for the
altec 811 horn are not really considered tweeters... generally they are used somewhere
between 500Hz/1200Hz and up (where your 8" mids are now serving) in a two way alignment

What would happy if I put a modern driver on the horns that went from say 4khz to HF?

I dont have the cash to give it a go so wondering if anyone has tried anything similar?

Or maybe B&C DE400TN or DE250... lots of inexpensive options
With available replacement elements...

Get rid of all your filters and just run a 10uf cap at the horn
