Hi all! I'm new to this forum. Need help restoring these dumped (2) 515B, (6) 416A and (2) 416-8A drivers. They are all in horrible condition. just makes some sound. the cone barely moves. its kind of stiff when i tried pressing the cone in and out... i'm trying to make a VOTT(Voice Of The Theater) out of these... i need them to be as perfect as possible. checked online for recone kits and found a few links, but confused which one to choose

For 515B's:-
Part# says MRK 0921
http://reconekits.com/alteclansing515b16ohm.aspx
Part# says MRK 092
http://www.bronxspeaker.com/Altec-Lansing-515-B-Recone-Kit-MRK092.htm
are these aftermarket or originals?

For 416A's:-

http://reconingspeakers.com/products-page/altec-brands/altec-416-16-diy-recone-kit/

For 416-8A's:-

http://reconingspeakers.com/products-page/altec-brands/altec-416-8a-diy-recone-kit/

I want these drivers to be up to VOTT standards... help me get the best parts available...

Pics of some of the drivers i have:

Thanks & Regards,
Lakshmanan. C

Send them to GPA, seems to be the consensus:

He's in India.

The solution may be to contact GPA and see about buying kits to be installed by local reconer. One of the 515b's--and maybe the other one too; I can't tell--already has a recone of a nonoriginal type.

Good point :) but 'the best' is not the same as 'sort of the best.'

you're right. most of them are already reconed in a not very professional way...
are GPA the best with reconing kits? do they have aftermarket or original kits?

http://reconingspeakers.com/ have both aftermarket kits and original kits for most of the drivers
http://reconekits.com/ have 515B Recone Kit, not sure if its original

Help me choose from where to buy? should i go with GPA for the recone kits? are they good kits?

For Altec GPA is the only logical choice, I think, since they are former Altec technicians and were able to buy the Altec tooling when Altec's last owner abandoned the line.
