The woofers in my 846Bs are missing the nomenclature plates. Is their a way to determine the model number based on any other information (speaker serial numbers, part number of magnets, serial numbers of HF drivers, etc)?

Thanks for your help.

it is sometimes common to see components used in finished factory cabinets to be
"missing" pretty labels and other extras sometimes seen on examples of the
same pieces of equipment...

it's possible that there may be a numeric code on the woofer cone or on the frame itself... folks have been able to co-relate these factory codes to the model numbers that the general public would (or could) be more familiar with...

good luck.

heck, some folks seem to be able to identify stuff from pictures alone...
if you have some photographic equipment, post some pics up here and
see if anyone can help...

again, good luck....

416-8Z, or so it would appear from a brief and casual google hunt: "valencia 846B"

"Z" designated Altec drivers are not labeled, is that right?
they should still have some stamped info somewhere IIRC though...

Usually. Here's an example that has other markings:

Here's one that's more obvious:

What a wealth of information you guys are. The numbers stamped on the back of both woofers are 50 03 030767, which appear to match those from the photos on the first link (wardsweb). Based on this, I assume they are 416-8Z. I'll post pictures today/tomorrow. My interest in this due to the fact that I'm going to sell them and don't want to mislead anyone as to the driver complement.

Thanks again.

I would suggest stating where they came from, and what they are -likely- to
be based on the model... the buyer being responsible for any positive ID.
All I can offer is based on example and opinion.
