The JBLpro site lists both the 2430 and 2431 as 3" voice coil compression drivers but doesn't provide any information as to what is the difference between them.
Anyone have any information they could share?

Hi Dave!

I asked this question very often and came to the conclusion that maybe even JBL does not know

Yeah :p It obviously isn't a "requirement" to produce nice little product design sheets for these drivers.

A friendly JBL service person sent me some information.

The difference is that that the 2430 is used in products (some list)
While the 2431 is used in products (other list)!

Well - yes - I appreciate the response - but that doesn't tell me any information that isn't in the System Reference PDFs.

Maybe we need Don McRitchie to actually ask an engineer next time he visits the factory.

Does anyone have, or can produce, any comparative test data?

You're not too far off Guido...
In any case, something should show up in the tech section in the future, time-permitting. Let's just say there is some information gathering going on at JBL... something might eventually come of it.
