View Full Version : Replacing C3 and C10 in 250TI crossover

Hello to the Forum!

I have just recently bought a pair of 250TI's (first original version).

Serial numbers are 1972 and 1973, so most probably 25 years old.
As a first step I do not want to "improve" anything, just leave the design as it is.

Does it make sense to replace C3 and C10 with new parts? Or would you say it is not really necessary?

Are these "non-polarized" (NP) electrolytics?

And, if replacing them would be a good idea, should I use good NP electrolytics again or could I use Solen Fast MKP's without changing the design?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Marc

Sorry, I know this has been discussed many times before...

Of course those 24mF caps in parallel to woofer and mid are NP electrolytics as the schematic says.

I think I will replace those.

Could you experts please just help me out with one question that is left:

Do I have to use good quality NP electrolytics if I don't want to change or shift anything? Or could I also use PP's, MKP's such as Solens without having any disadvantage?

The difference in price is not that high and theoretically Solens or Sonicap (or similar) should be better, but this is just theory.

Which type would you choose when recapping those 24mF NP's?

Thanks again.

Greetings from Austria,

Marc
