i believe that is due to when they were manufactured,
but i am no expert in these things.... :)

Have you ever seen a JBL monitor with such a big logo on the side? Never saw one myself. Only some of the industrial cabinets have them.

Some industrial monitors have them as well AFAIK.

That's what I was saying ;-)

The vennered 4312c didn't have that big logo. Few black ones have them as far as I know. And yes, it is ugly.

Ok, I read you wrong, I thought you implied "industrial cabinets" were not studio monitors

So the model 4312C is a pro model or a consumer model?
I learned from reading here and there that they got two types
of models....

Its one reason I got rid of the pair of 4312A speakers I had after a short while, sold them in 2006 - long gone now.
Didn't loose money - it was basically a break even deal, Bought them locally, plus the grief of shipping them to CA.

^^^Arghhh!!!! My eyes hurt... :D

That white square is great on a PA cabinet as it helps separate genuine JBL cabinets from copies. But on a "studio" monitor that is already identified with a foilcall on the front?

Agreed - Emma is a fan of good sound, but big ugly branding like that is a test of SAF (Spouse Acceptance factor) that I just don't need ... Soundwise, they didn't impress me.
Besides, there are lots of nicer looking JBLs that sound better too (heresy!!)
Guess I'm spoiled by 15 inch woofers ... (haven't found a nice pair of 18s yet, and, the TV room may be a bit small for 18s ...)

These aren't black wood - its just a finished, painted cabinet - no grain.

And we like wood veneer better anyway!

So how come my 4312C doesn't have those ugly stickers and other do?

About the veneer, i don't mind the black veneer, wood veneer makes me
mad as it always looks like fake wood, i prefer a natural REAL wood finish...

Pro model. Stickers are free advertisements... E.g., speakers prominently mounted in "record" stores... Which is what many of these shown were.

Why the preoccupation with a sticker?

So people just choose to stick that ugly thing on their speakers?

Preoccupation? i was just wondering why mine are different...

Free ads for JBL. I expect they were sent out that way.
And yes... 13-14 posts later, I'd call this a preoccupation :)

I was thinking the same thing like JBL cinema speakers. But who cares they’re behind the screen so no one is going to see them and why even bother to put it on the speaker if hardly anyone’s going to see them. Personally I like the look white logo against black.

The Control series have logo on the back that I painted white so it stands out clearer.

I thought the one without the ads is the pro version...
So my 4312C pair is a consumer version?

Well, i now know that the 4312C is consumer only.
The 4312 and the 4312A both have pro and consumer versions.
What exactly is different between the pro and consumer? because as
i can see from the table in the thread you posted, both versions have the
same drivers.
