Just because he says it is does not make it so.

Hotrodded in what regard? Heavier voice coil to reduce sensitivity? Will the coil winding fill up the gap with conductor like the aluminum OEM unit? I have my doubts that it's 'Better'.

Some definitive proof would be nice.

As edgewound said, heavier VC means lower sensitivity, and a longer VC in a given magnetic structure means less winding in the gap, hence less sensitivity.

Power handling is not a proof of performance. I have a dummy load here that can handle 1000W. It doesn't make a sound :)

The sale pitch from that eBay add is indeed quite funny, and an empty shell. I won't waste my time by asking the seller to show some graphs displaying stock vs "hot rodded". Maybe there are some improvements, maybe. The benefits have yet to be shown...

And yes, the 800w newly found power vs the original 600w is most likely the result of a less efficient driver. I wish it could take only 100w for the same SPL :D

You want to drop 2226s in your 4520s?
Unless your goal is uber SPL and you have big amps and power outlets, I doubt you gain much.

I drive my 2225 with a 450W amp, a 2226 needs an amp that can deliver 1200-1300W under an 8 ohms load.

Nop. The 2226 went into a bass reflex cabinet.

The 4520s and 2225h dn't need much power to deliver a good punch ;)
