For the first time for many years (as far as I know), a very nice Paragon was for sale on the Norwegian market today, and the pricetag was 25.000NOK ($4500)

But unfortunately, before I even found the ad the speaker was sold. I've dealt with the seller before so I'm pretty sure it's not a scam.

So I guess there is one lucky buyer out there today :) Anyone in here that bought them?

This will likely not be the last we see of them.

The original source was: http://www.hifisentralen.no/bruktsalg/index.php/topic,90904.msg92736.html#msg92736
and there are more photos there, including this one:

Now I'm no expert on this model but it seems to me the ones I've seen have a thicker defraction panel. Could these be homemade? :dont-know:

A Google translation answered my own question:

Want to sell one of the hi-fi history's greatest stars - JBL Paragon C44. This specimen is not perfect, but it definitely has the potential to be good - there are some scratches in the veneer on top, front bow is not original and is missing some small parts to attach the two modules together. Both toppfineren and fastening parts should be easy to fix. Otherwise it is complete with LE15A basses, 375 drivers in the midrange and 077-tweeter drivers. There are 2 crossovers in each module - a JBL LX5 and N7000. I have test played a bit and all the elements play properly.

JBL Paragon is one of the most sought-after vintage speakers and sold on ebay.com against 20,000 usd. The rimligste who has ever been sold there was not very nice, but was still sold for 7,000 usd. So this is a rare case. The songs also very good - it's part of the package when it comes to the great classics in audio.

Is a little unsure when it comes to price, but not under $ 25 000, - - in other words, open to bid on this. One condition is that it collected in Oslo since it weighs about 350 kg and is large http://www.hifisentralen.no/bruktsalg/Smileys/classic/wink.gif

The defraction panel is thin, you are correct. Maby an earlier model.

Hmm, they are up for sale again, the original "buyer" couldn't buy them afterall. He wants NOK35.000 for them, or highest bid over NOK25.000.

I didn't realize it was missing original pieces before BMWCCA pointed it out, but he's correct, some parts are missing.

I just talked to the seller. It's not actually him who owns it, he just helping to sell it from a deathbo (don't know the correct English word). Really nice person. He confirmed that the curved front is not original, and that it had 077 instead of the original 075. If the speaker had been original I might have bought it, but not in the condition it is in.

Could someone explain the difference between C44 and D44000?

C usually denotes a "cabinet" also known as an enclosure or a box.

It might have been a kit build from origional plans,,,Its obvious they didnt know how to finish the top edge of reflecter panel..At one time you could get the legs from JBL to complete them ,,,I did this on building several Paragons. There is a way to build up the top of panel to look thicker..
