Hi,

I need your diagnosis of what just went wrong with one of the mid-range 2121s in my 4343. While the 2121 on my left one sounds okay, I hear no sound from this 2121 on my right speaker, and whenever I turn off the amplifier, I hear some sort of "frying" noise from the 2121 in question. Do you think its voice coil has been burnt out?

Actually I've been listening to 4343 in biamp mode, with Crown DC300 hooked to 2231A woofers, and 2121s to Adcom 535 amp. This 2121 problem happened after I replaced the existing 2121 with another one that I purchased from ebay the other day. When I compared the sounds from 2121s from both speakers, I found the sound from the replaced one weaker than the other one, so I turned off the amps, starting from the Crown. When I turned off the Adcom, I heard this "frying" noise from the replaced 2121. Was it possibly caused by the Adcom amp or even Crown? I have had no problem with that up to now. The Xover is Ashly XR1001. Thanks for your help in advance.

You could have a noisey potentiometer in the Ashly. I had a volume in one of my actives essentially shut off my midrange 2123. I turned it a couple of times and it was good as new

you tried swapping L/R speaker leads on the adcom output already?

Thanks to you all for your kind replies.

After checking the system here and there for some time,
I finally found out the problem was caused by my wrong wiring inside.
I think I got messed up while replacing the existing 2121 with another one
Anyway I fixed it right, and now everything is back to normal.

By the way, an unusually high hum noise was heard when I turned on the CD player, but when I replaced the AudioQeust interconnect cables with another pair, it just disappeared, to my relief. :)
