altec 838b the 'carmel'

i just got a set of these and was wondering is there anywhere to get some info on these? i can find plenty on the 838a's but not the 838b's. also the cone on the drivers measure 10" but the info i got on the 414z drivers says 12" any help?

Official literature from that time period is ... somewhat lacking.

414z drivers are considered 12" units.
