DSP, your recommendation

I know the DBX Driverack, I've used it, I like it.
However I would like to hear your input about similar devices from other brands, features, quality, etc., obviously in the same price range.

What are you using? Why?

I will have to buy one soon so I'm collecting data :D

Don't have any experience otherwise with a dsp unit.

I'm using a Rane AC24 digital 4way x-over with knobs. Sounds ok (good) but I want more.:)

Right, my mistake, I was talking about the driverack PA. The 4800 is not in the same ball park, it's not even in the same town.
It's up with the XTA in the price range as I can see.

No, let's go down a little, I'm talking Driverack PA, at most 260, or Behringer DCX2496... around this range. :D

No worries, I just wondered. I had a DBX D.R PA and didn't hate it, now have four 260's and love them but want to see what the 4800 will do in the main system. I am also interested in what else is out there.

I use a few Beringer DCX2496. Some of the early ones had a production issue (Google Beringer DCX2496 frying bacon).
IMHO They are cheap knock offs and I certainly wouldn't tour with it. They have a lot of features but the guys here hate them (crap DSP's?). I have 3 in my HT L/C/R and for $600 vs Thousands ?, I just can't play up there. I have a DBX Drive rack PA. One of the DEC features is a Driver alignment tool with pulse tones. It is quick and although the DBX has the adjustment, they need an out board signal source.

The DEQ2496 is worth the price for the RTA alone.

Did someone here have a chance to test the Electrovoice DX46 (http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=1038) (or Dynacord DSP600 (http://www.dynacord.de/en/products/7/6/34/233), same unit) ?
It looks like a great deal: 48khz, 2x6 with FIR capabilities (512 taps per output) and a nice editor software that works over the network.

Yep. A typical street price for the AP20 is $6,500. However you do get 16 channels of Dirac Live for that money as well.

I have two Behringer crossovers. One analog 2x3 (stereo)/2x4(mono), and the "bells&whistle" 6 channels digital DCX2496. The digital DCX2496 is okay but has a lot of hiss caused by the lack of output board. I find it noisy. I much prefer the simple CX3400 which can be configured as 4 channel in mono and will probably get a second one to have two 4 channels crossovers - 20-120Hz, 120-500Hz, 500-8kHz, 8-20kHz. The DCX2496 will then be used to drive up to 6 subs as every channel can be set up independently.

That being said, the DCX2496 remains an excellent platform that is easily modified. There's a huge following and many, many mods are offered. Easy to make output boards with all possible variations can be made. If you want to mod them, then buy two used ones. They go for $100 in used condition and you'd get 2 x 6 channels. The DCX also come with a software to remotely control them from your PC. It even increases its correction capacities.
