View Full Version : altec 291 drivers new diaphragm ???

hello i have altec 291-16C drivers and a interesting question was posed, can these be set up as 288's ????? anyone know if this is possiable and what could one hope to gain by doing so ??? thanks in advance Joe

If you put 288 diaphragms into those 291s they'll become 288-8Hs ( assuming you put in 8 ohm diaphragms or 288-16Hs with 16 ohm diaphragms ) .

288s go up a bit higher than 291s and ( IMO ) are better at handling transients .

You can get new 288 diaphragms from GPA .

Listen to the 288-16K diaphrams. They will fit & sound fantastic.
