purely a packaging/terminal difference?
(i.e., no phase plug or magnetic circuit differences)

sorry if this has been covered before ... not asking about diaphragms, just the carcass.
I'm expecting identical diaphragms would perform nearly identically in either driver
and was hoping for something better than my best guess :)

The person to ask is Doug Button. He left JBL a year ago but I think Don still has contact with him. I had all the information written down and subsequently lost the tablet before I could get it all onto disk. If I remember correctly, the 2451 core was the top of the line and the 2452H-SL core was a less expensive to manufacture revision. My memory could be in error. That particular conversation was years ago.

Thanks Sir! I've a pair on the way now, so I'll live with
what I've got, but it would be nice to know.

Which ones did you get?

I have some of each of these should you need any mechanical info - in short the 2450SL and 2451 are the same magnet but have the horn mounting holes on different diameters.

The newer 2452 and 2452SL have a smaller, optimized ND magnet and weigh less.

The occasional use has revealed no difference in sound.

Thanks all. 2450SL pair should be on their way to me soon.

Ah. I could have looked here (2450SL picture):

I have a 2450SL pair in-hand now, and will be swapping in the Be Truextents
when I have time.
