Hello all.
I could get some 2220As at a fair price but I would need some info as I don't know these drivers.

They are reconed as 2225, they work but I don't know about the result of the deeper gap.
The Xmax which is 2.03 for the 2220 and 5.08 for the 2225! Is it due only to the VC length or there's also some mechanical constraint into the magnet?
The original 2220 has an underhung VC of 7mm in a 9mm gap and the 2225 has a overhung VC of 16mm in a 7mm gap.
This mix gives a 16mm VC in a 9mm gap so overhang again but there has to be an offset...
I wonder also if over-excursion will have the VC hit the back plate.

What about the alnico motor? Is this model prone to demagging? What kind of perfomance should I expect compared to a "real" 2225?

I was planning on loading my future 4520 with 2225s, what should I do?

After all I've been writing, I think I'll pass. :crying:

Take your time. I just purchased one good 2225h and three needing recone for $150.00 locally. So, there are plenty in Montreal, with all the music festivals unloading their equipment every year. Now browsing for recone kits.

Oh I have four cores here waiting for recones that will come in two weeks :)
How much are you willing to pay for cones? Original I mean, not aftermarket.
