The product information on the 4411 Studio Monitor says the midrange is an LE5. I see LE5-2, LE5-5, LE5-10 and LE5-12's advertized on ebay. Are these interchangable both physically and sound wise?

Thanks for the info!

The matrix shows that the 4411 used an LE5-9. Is it possible to substitute either the LE5-8 or LE5-12 (both have the silver frame so appearance would be the same) and have the same acoustics as the LE5-9?

If you take note in the LE5 matrix, the LE5-9 uses an edge wound voice coil making it more efficient. The LE5-9 has an SPL of 94 compared to the 91 of the LE5-12 or LE5-8. There would be an audible difference if you substituted an LE5-12 for an LE5-9.

Note that the only kit available is the C8RLE510 kit.

JBL discontinued the edgewound C8RLE59 kit a few years ago.

SPL = sound pressure level?

Yes, sir.
1 watt of signal input at 1 meter of distance from the driver, measured in db (decibels). :)

Why the need to consider replacements?

Why the need to consider replacements?

Looking at buying a pair of 4411's. The the original mids have been changed out with a pair of realistics in their place. Would want to replace with LE5's that would work well with the system.

The LE5-9's are around used and in good condition and are a much more affordable option than the kits.

You'd want the LE5-5, 9 or 11. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 2105H is a pro version of the same driver and can also be used.

On that note, I very recently bought a couple NOS 2105H's from JBL that were still in their 1987 boxes. JBL was awfully proud of them but I needed brand new units so I ponied up the bags of gold. Definitely not the way to go for most people.

It just occured to me that I probably have a pair of LE5-9's that I'd sell. I'll have to look at them first and make sure they are 100%.
