It may not make sense to over the limited bandwidth that driver would operate over. How sensitive is your ear up there?

Look at it this way you are adding mass to a diaphram with much less surface area than a dome that through it's own form, a ring that is terminated on both sides, may be better controled break-up wise than a dome.

The 045be doesn't have any probably to get out to 40K so I would guess the 045ti doesn't either.

You could sure try it but it's a potentially expensive experiment.

Just a bunch of speculation on my part.

I'm not sure if the distortions in a 2405 will only be harmonic ones (2f, 3f, 4f etc), but the harmonic ones will be in a range where our ears won't hear them.

If You cross over the 2405 at 8 kHz, then the distortions will have a frequency of >= 16 kHz.

I do not suggest such, concerning the extreme light diaphragm it is mounted in 2405.

Do it any way,,Test the results,,and publish your findings..That way for sure,,All the rest of inquireing minds will know for sure..At your expence.
