JBL 4410A and 4412A

A few years ago I scored a nice used pair of 4412A's. I just snagged a pair of the 4410A's, a one owner pair. I have waited patiently waiting for a nice pair to show up on the bay. Finally home.
I must say, for those who might think JBL's have that smiley curve response, they are mistaken. Both of these monitors are very clean and clear in their presentation.
It wasn't until I brought the 4412A's upstairs into the large living room that I realized just how nice a speaker they are. Play a nice source and out comes nice music.
The 4410A's are just a bit leaner in the bass, but also a very clean presentation. You don't get a chance to miss anythiing, it is all there.
I just can't imagine, if the LSR series of studio monitors are even more accurate, and they should be, just how much better are they?
Well the 4412A's are staying in the living room, yes the wife likes them as well and I think I will put the 10's up in the bedroom with a larger TV, hook up a sub, and watch nice movies with nice sound.
I enjoy this web site and learn much from the more experienced folks. Keep up the work.

I wish I had room for the 4412A's in my setup. The monitor just keeps getting bigger as my eyesight changes...

I've had 4412's & 4410's & L166's ...among others

as the pro monitors go , I preferred the 4410 over the 4412 & when comparing the 12 and 166 , for my listening..the 166 was slightly better..so

my personal ranking of the 3 wud put the 4410 & L166 tied for best, but for very different reasons. The Horizons are more enjoyable and colored (warmer) , but the 4410 seems razor sharp accurate and revealing (tho you dont always want that and it cant be switched off) ...

when I offered up for sale..chronologically the 4412 went first, then a year later ..the L166 and I had the most trouble letting go of the 4410's (2 years later) ..funny the 4410 has virtually the same driver load as an L80T ...which I dont really care for...:crying:

I suppose it's possible, since they're the object of this thread, that the A-series 44xx monitors may actually sound different (better?) than the non-A, even counting the fact that the A's don't have pots. I know how much the L80T benefits from a crossover upgrade. Is it possible the A-series, too, have an improved network over the earlier model? I don't have any non-A's but I'm quite fond of my 4412As. Anybody compared them both side-by-side?

I use my 4412A to evaluate downloaded music to use for DJ gigs as they are very revealing.
I make no claims to be a "Golden Ear" mine are a cheap grade of tin due to age and many forms of abuse. Pots have always been problematic to me. I have a couple of sets of L100t3 too and don't miss the pots there either.
