Besides the motor, is there a big difference between these two drivers ?

Thanks

I am assuming you meant the 1400ND or 1400Pro that Stephane referenced - unless there is a 1400AL out there that I haven't seen...

Running a few TS numbers indicates the voicing of the 2217H is patterned somewhat on the obsolete 2205H ( which was voiced higher than either the 2225 or the 2226 ) .
- The 2217H was meant to functionally replace its cousin, the 2226H / only within a smaller box size.
- IME, I've never really felt a pressing use for this transducer / especially since the 2226H is such a solid performer in a ( still ) somewhat smallish sized enclosure .

The 1400Pro comes out numerically very close to having the voicing of the 2206H / just with a larger Sd ( cone area ).
- I've never known a live audio guy who didn't like the sound of the 1400Pro ( fwiw) / even when they were clueless about what was in the box they were using .

I hope this helps.

However for us cabinet builders, the 2217 fits a lot better in cabinets since it's only 12.75" and has squared edges. the 2226 is 15.25"
