4345 Crossover question need input

This is a new thread for me. I am in the process of building a pair of 4345s.
Using the plans from this Forum, it has been 6 months in the process.
I am trying to get them as close to correct as possible (material and components).
The problem now is getting the correct crossover. In reading through some of the
past threads I noticed a lot of comments about upgrading the crossover. I would
like to be able to mount the crossover in the original location. The 4345s will be
bi-amped. I am open to any ideas.

The componets I have are,

(2) 2405
(2) 2425J
(2) LE10H
(2) 2245H
(2) 3143 crossovers

I will bi-amp the pair so for now I thought I could use the 3143 crossover, but I
don't think I want to mount it because it mounts completely different in the cabinet.
Since the LE10s are not correct I didn't know what changes would need to be done
to the crossovers.

The LE10H's are roughly 9 dB too inefficient. At the very least one would need to remove the two 2 ohm series resistors and the 30 ohm parallel resistor from the 3143. Then one would probably need to trim down the HF and UHF by a fair amount.

What is the best 10" to install in the 4345?Stock driver in my edition was the 2122H - but they are hard to find, indeed. One can recone an E110, I believe, if the kit can be had...

Unless you have the skills and test equipment for engineering electro-acoustic devices you should copy exactly successful work that has already been done. I believe a thorough study of the several 4345 threads in these forums would impel a person to that conclusion. Therefore, why not the latest (and best)? I suggest rereading the threads on 4313B's 4345 build at this point.

By the way, that's some nice work on those cabs.

One of the members here took a pair of 10 inch frames and reconed them into 2122 speakers (the factory recommended replacement for the original no longer in production 2121) for me. I am refurbing a pair of factory 4341s (the start of the 4 way 434x series ...)

Last I checked availability 2122 kits are scheduled for mid January. Don't hold your breath however. 2123 kits are available and E110 baskets are plentiful.:D

Don't hold your breath however. 2123 kits are available and E110 baskets are plentiful.:DYeah, I bought the very last 2122 kit before JBL closed shop in Northridge last June. They only had the one left. I don't think there have been any runs since. The 2123 works very well providing you don't try and get the bottom end out of it that the 2122 was capable of. Not an issue in 4-way studio monitors but definitely an issue in 3-ways with subwoofers.
