how to wire banana plugs? help the mentally challenged

:blink: wasn't sure where to put this, but if anyone can explain how to connect the speaker wire to these I'd much appreciate it. I have others where the wire folds over a post and you screw the cap on, but these are all thread.....not sure if I'm supposed to bunch the wire up at the tip of the post, or feed it through to the unscrewable tip, and secure it there somehow?

I like the dual plug better as the wire hangs down and you can get a good bite on the wire. Very important with 10 gage wire.

These are worthless with 16ga wire, and only passable with 14ga. There's a good 1/8" gap inside the tip and unless there's enough wire wadded up inside they can be loose with poor contact. Wrapping the wire back over the screw-in tip is important too, but again with 16ga wire it doesn't grip. I recommend soldering these or getting something different altogether.

only thing worse is the ones in pic 8 of the PDF ...with big holes in the sides and you screw in the endcap...

the best I've found had the sleeve unscrew over the banana and you can insert up to 10 ga. into the body, then there are 2 opposing screws (staggered abt half inch) to hold it in

thanks a lot guys, I didn't see the tutorial in the link I posted, but I warned you this was help for the mentally challenged :p

I did end up wiring them the way the tutorial says, but they give you so little room (~1/16") to fold the wire over the post before they lay on the threads, that you have to trim mil by mil off to get it just right, pretty crappy design, but hey what do you expect for $1.82 per pair "fabrique en Chine"

I hate to admit it, but I have a similar design from Monster than allow for a good amount of wire to fold over and be crimped in place w/o any thread interference. I noted the type with the screws to hold them in place (90 degree to the plug), but liked the "on axis" version better.
