Concrete Egg halfs

Hallo !!
My wife gave me a pair of eggs , she got them for free !!!!
They are built in concrete ca 100 cm high and ca 50 cm at the base...ca 80 liters.
Cerwin Vega drivers that do`nt work.
I will send pictures !!
The design of the cab in concrete and its stands is cool and the wife really would accept them in the house ( my other stuff is stufft in the garage)
So......i have a pair of 2213 that i would like to use, two2105 that would be perfect.....and .... a pair of 2405.
To match the 2213 and the 2105 is easy , there are a lot of info in the search....
But how match the 2405 with the 2105........:dont-know:

JBL Jubals (L65) did the cone-mid, 077/2405 thing, as an example.

at the very least, you will want to reduce the 077/2405 output to be closer to what the
mid and woofer do with the same level input (match sensitivities)... The L65 happens to
use an autoformer and an L-pad to do this, so perhaps it wasn't the best example (as the
autoformers aren't readily available). My point was that JBL has used that mid series
and tweeter together in a number of systems (4315 monitor also used an autoformer for
this pairing). You can get an idea of the crossover frequencies and slopes JBL used in
reviewing those systems.

If you want to give the L65 crossovers a shot at your eggs, I have a pair that are collecting dust that you can have for the cost of postage. I suspect that the L pads either need cleaning or replacing.

It’s a bit early for Easter. But those look like some cool groovy egg speakers retro eggs.

How would you like bass love, sunny side up or sunny side down?:D

All you need now are some egg subs. And for room acoustics, egg boxes.:p

You mentioned concrete so how heavy do these weigh?

So who would you go about making one of these?

Wooden base filled with concrete with second wooden shape pressed into the concrete so that part of concrete slops over. Wait till it sets hard and break away the wooden frame.

Drill holes in the sides for bolt screws and then make wooden rim for the front baffle attach it to the rim and you’re almost there? Is that how it’s done?

I'd re-do the baffle. Large roundovers on the edges would help both acoustically and aesthetically.

I'd also make a point of bringing the driver spacing closer together.

I`m building a new one in 25 mm MDF.
The drivers will be 2213 , 2105 and 2405.
The xo is still the biggest truble !!:blink:

The 2405 and the 2105 are an excellent match. Look no farther than the 4315 studio monitor. Just cross them over high, 7.5K or better. The 2105 extends to 11K, even if not ideal in that range and the 2405 looses it's "airy" quality and starts to sound harsh under 10K--especially if driven hard in applications such as sound reinforcement. The 4315 crosses over at 8K, a good compromise.

The problem with the 3114 network is that it uses the small autotransformer , probably very hard to find.
IHMO best to use 4313B 's ( Thats a name ) equivalent circuit posted above. Nice and simple :)

I'd go even thicker than 25mm, to allow for either a LARGE roundover or bevel around the perimeter. With care, this is not difficult to achieve. It helps with diffraction, improves imaging, and minimizes diffraction based comb filtering accordingly. It also would be a big visual enhancement to make these more egglike.

beautiful eggs but her are some warnings:

1- as said in this thread, the flat font panel is not recommended, especially on the edge. Since you have an egg, try to keep the shape at the maximum.

2- the shape of the egg concentrates the resonances on one point (one line here), try to put something at this point. Elipson which made round enclosures put divisions inside.
