We used to be able to purchase them but cannot now with a change in policy from JBL. It will be very hard to get a pair.

Yeah, it's too bad someone can't clone them in wood or some other material. The sonoglass is obviously the best but I could live with wood copies if need be.

Maybe someone could make the horns , especially if that person had a drawing :D

and maybe a trade .... for some little treat hidden under someones Bed :D

The sonoglass is obviously the best but I could live with wood copies if need be.I have cloned the TAD TH-4003 horns using a material that is very similar to sonoglass, unfortunately both the material and the method are very expensive. I am not sure many here would pay $1000+ per horn and even that price requires 4-5 pairs be sold up front to cover the molds.

Wood probably makes the most sense economically.

Wood probably makes the most sense economically.Well, this horn goes into an $8,200 loudspeaker so that has to be taken into consideration. The horn itself is around $1,500.

I guess that's why waveguides are so popular.

Folks ,

I have 90 % of the work done for them .... The plug needs a bit of work .... a 2 part RV silicone mould at approx $ 200 in materials .... polyester resin and a suitable mineral filler $ 150 per horn tops . The originals were not that heavy either( 4338 or 9800 )so we are not talking silly money to ship . They don't need to be 30 kg to work correctly ... If you want more mass use an adhesive on the outside tune the horn to where you want it .

With the vacum they can even be carbon fibre ... It aint rocket science once you know how to do it

1 pair 9800 horns with out mounting plates, packed very well = $ 900 plus shipping cost shipped in 4 parts for ease of painting the colour of your choice .... So basically , paint glue together . drill holes . someone , just about anyone can make the mounting plate .

If there is interest this .... I don't really care either way ... I'm quite happy with the crappy h9800 , but
I am willing to do it for the forum .

Rich

There are a pair of 4338 I could clone If the owner agrees ..... 2 part poly foam and release is a easy method once you get the hang of it . No shrinkage either .

Too bad the H9800 is crap! It's a good horn, in the top four list.

I know that ;) but in some circles ,I know duck all ! I suppose I could have made any one of them ,but I chose the H9800 ...

I'm pretty sure an owner of a H4338 might oblige if treated nicely .

Rich

PS, It wont be till I have finished my amp build, but I am willing , depending on how this bloody op goes that is !

Thank you all for the information!

This is the drivers I was going to use for my speaker 14" 2254J 10" 2251J 2435hpl and 045be

but I want to try 1500AL or 1501 AL for my low, instead of 2254j and 435be or 476be for mid instead of 2435hpl
But of course they are very expensive, but this is my hobby and I like it:)

I ask the JBL homeaudio dealer here in Iceland about the horn from 4338 and K2 s9800
and it is possible at I can get the poth horn for HF and UHF from K2 s9800.

And if I can get a hand for a single 1500AL or 1501AL I will try them:bouncy:

Sorry for my bad English

Thanks
Ari

Hi Ari,

the items you are after are not available to the public at any cost unless they are proved to be replacements for an already purchased speaker ie, you need serial numbers to start with .

ofcourse, you are welcome to try and I hope you can get to hear these items , they truly are worth the money .
